Talkhouse Weekend Playlist: Babe Rainbow’s Looking to the Future

The pastoral Australian band looks mostly to the past for inspirations on their forthcoming record.

11:00 AM EST on December 4, 2020

Babe Rainbow are back with a new sunshine pop single "Zeitgeist." Following a digital release, the Australian band is also dropping a vinyl 7" of the single with the B-side "The Wind" today via Flightless Records. To celebrate the single, the band shared some songs that have inspired their forthcoming LP due out in the spring of 2021. Enjoy!

Such a mood. Great stuff.

Yothu Yindi — "Mabo"
Koala dreaming. Yothu Yindi is a major Babe Rainbow influence. Top-to-toe 100%.

Creedence Clearwater Revival — "Cotton Fields"
Always play this at my mate's pub when it’s busy. Goes well in the rainforest too.

Such a banger. This is fully what it’s all about.

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard — "Stressin'"
Homeboys KGLW flexing their retro psych guns on this peaceful little number.

Pond — "Bali Waters"
Bless. Beautiful song beautiful band; what happens on tour, stays on tour.

Steve Miller Band — "Take the Money and Run"
Steve Miller band, dude. What an inspiration for my singing. Powerful stuff.

Lou Reed — "New Sensations"
'80s Lou Reed rules the kitchen with her teapot.
