We at Talkhouse are hoping everyone is staying safe and healthy in these uncertain times. While precautionary measures like social distancing can keep you physically safe, the isolation it causes can be detrimental to your mental health too. The CDC recommends exercising regularly, meditation, and getting plenty of sleep. Holy Wave are here to help too, with this “music for meditation” playlist. The band has a new single, aptly titled “Escapism“, out today. Their forthcoming album Interloper is scheduled for release on July 3 via Reverberation Appreciation Society.

These songs have taken us around this world. You might be locked up inside your house right now, but we hope they help take you away for a while.

Lorelle Meets The Obsolete — “The Sound of All Things”
Lorena and Beto are musical geniuses, one of the greatest bands around today.
The Cure — “Funeral Party”
This is a perfect song, and one that feels relevant again today.
Cocteau Twins — “Pink Orange Red”
A flawless one from the Cocteau Twins. We love this band and I think it really bubbles up to the surface on “Escapism” in particular.
White Poppy — “Hypnotized”
We have had this song and album (The Pink Haze of Love) on repeat since we first heard about it. If you only listen to one song from this playlist, make it this one.
Men I Trust — “Dorian”
I once listened to this song on repeat from Houston to El Paso. It definitely sets a mood.
Peel Dream Magazine — “Shenandoah”
A perfect marriage of Stereolab and My Bloody Valentine vibes. Impossible to not like. A gem of a band; very happy that they exist.
Roedelius — “Wenn Der Südwind Weht”
This is just a beautiful song. It will put a smile on your face.
John Maus — “Hey Moon”
This is another song that has been on constant rotation since we heard it. We have spent many nights around a table listening or talking about John Maus.
Ashrae Fax — “Fits and Starts”
Our friend Jackie showed us this banger. Thank you, Jackie!
Broadcast — “America’s Boy”
One of our personal favorites off of Tender Buttons, this was very inspirational in the making of “Escapism.” It encapsulates the bittersweet sound that we all very much adore in music.
Aphex Twin — “Stone In Focus”
You can just let this one exist in the background.
