Talkhouse Weekend Playlist: Garage Rock Gold & More from CRX

The band are suckers for LA proto-synth punk covers of classic '60s songs.

The Strokes' Nick Valensi started his new project CRX out of a primal urge to play again. So, to celebrate their show tonight at Bowery Ballroom in New York City, Valensi and bandmate Richie Follin put together this great, international, eclectic playlist full of strange electronic dance tracks, Trans-era Neil Young, and much more.

La Bionda – “I Wanna Be Your Lover"

When we are falling asleep on long drives on tour we blast this jam to get us fired up.

The Screamers – “The Beat Goes On"

Such a sucker for LA proto-synth punk covers of classic '60s songs.

Suburban Lawns – “Janitor"

Just got to love these lyrics

Serge Gainsbourg – “Initials BB"

Cant get enough of this arrangement!

XTC - “Making Plans for Nigel"

The English are so good at weaving a story into a song.

Frank Ocean – “Solo (reprise)"

MASTERPIECE. Only Andre 3000 is on this track but it's on Frank's record. No one comes close to these verses and there are rumors about a Drake jab in them...and there's nothing better than rap beef to enrich a song.

Jacques Dutronc – "Et moi, et moi, et moi"

1966 debut single garage rock gold. Solid French tones.

Small Faces – “Ogdens Nut Flake Gone"

Phaser on everythang. Love everything about this recording.

Kayne West – “Fade"

This is on our pre-show playlist. Bassline too fire. We just went and saw him at the Forum...it was on a different level. Drake and 2 Chainz sat next to us...

Neil Young – “Sample and Hold"

Real Deal Neil. Concepts and vocoders...worth him getting sued for.
