Alison Star Locke moved a lot as a kid with her single mother, growing up mainly in San Antonio and Oakland. She earned a B.F.A. in Filmic Writing from USC, where she won the Jack Nicholson Screenwriting Award. She began her writing career as a story producer for reality TV and has written, directed and produced numerous shorts. Her favorite, Shhhhhhh&#8230;, was laureled-up by the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Denver Film Festival. Her script The Projectionist won second place at Slamdance in the Horror/Thriller category. Her scripts have placed in numerous contests, including the BloodList, Nicholls, Screamfest, Women in Horror Film Festival, Scriptapalooza and Fright Night. After staying home to advocate and care for her daughter, Bethany, who was diagnosed with autism, she returned to work this year to make The Apology, her first feature as a writer-director, starring Anna Gunn, Linus Roache and Janeane Garofalo. She lives with her husband and daughter in the Los Angeles area.

Seeing My Family at the Movies

Allison Anders is an award-winning film and television writer and director. She is best-known for films such as Gas, Food Lodging (1992), Mi Vida Loca (1993), Four Rooms (1995) and Grace of My Heart (1996), and is currently a prolific TV director, helming episodes of shows such as Sex and the City, The L Word, The Mentalist and Orange is the New Black. A winner of the MacArthur Genius Grant, she is also a Distinguished Professor in the Film And Media Studies Department at the University of California Santa Barbara.

Lucy Walker is an Emmy-winning British film director who has twice been nominated for an Academy Award and is renowned for creating riveting character-driven nonfiction that delivers emotionally and narratively. Lucy’s films include feature documentaries The Crash Reel (2013), Waste Land (2010), Countdown to Zero (2010), Blindsight (2006), Devil’s Playground (2002) and short films notably The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom (2011) and The Lion’s Mouth Opens (2014).

Patrick Brice was born in Grass Valley, Ca. He holds a BFA in Film/Video from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). His first film, Creep, premiered at the 2014 SXSW Film Festival and released in 2015 by Netflix. His second film as writer/director, The Overnight, premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and was distributed by The Orchard. He lives and works in Los Angeles.

Joe Lynch is a director working in various film genres, from horror to action to comedy (both intentional and unintentional). His feature credits include Everly with Salma Hayek, Knights of Badassdom starring Peter Dinklage, Steve Zahn and Ryan Kwanten, the anthology film Chillerama, and Wrong Turn 2 with Henry Rollins. Lynch also co-stars and executive produces the TV show Holliston and co-hosts the popular podcast The Movie Crypt on Geek Nation with fellow filmmaker Adam Green (Hatchet). He loves jump cuts, practical blood and making his days.

Stephen Cone&nbsp;is a Chicago-based filmmaker whose films include&nbsp;Princess Cyd&nbsp;(BFI London Film Festival, BAMcinemaFest) and&nbsp;Henry Gamble&rsquo;s Birthday Party&nbsp;(BAMcinemaFest, Maryland Film Festival), both of which are currently streaming on Netflix, as well as the Outfest-winning,&nbsp;New York Times&nbsp;Critics Pick&nbsp;The Wise Kids, which can be found streaming on Hulu. He got his start cutting trailers for Roger Corman and later directed the hit movie Gremlins, as well as Gremlins 2: The New Batch, for producer Steven Spielberg. His feature films include The Howling, Innerspace, Matinee, Small Soldiers, The ‘burbs, The Hole and the zom-com Burying the Ex. His TV directing work includes the HBO film The Second Civil War, the Masters of Horrors titles, episodes of Eerie, Indiana (which he helped create), CSI: NY, Hawaii 5-0 and Salem.

Chadd Harbold is a Brooklyn-based director, producer, and writer. He wrote, produced, and directed Private Property starring Shiloh Fernandez, out May 14 through Lionsgate, and Long Nights Short Mornings. Recently, he produced Colin West’s Linoleum, starring Jim Gaffigan; and Aharon Keshales’ South Of Heaven, starring Jason Sudeikis. His other producing credits include Ana Asensio’s Most Beautiful Island, Dan Berk &amp; Robert Olsen’s Villains, Rashaad Ernesto Green’s Premature and horror icon Larry Fessenden’s Depraved. As a director and producer, his films have screened around the world, including AFI Fest, BAMcinemaFest, BFI London Film Festival, Fantaspoa, Fantasia Film Festival, Film at Lincoln Center, International Film Festival Rotterdam, The Museum of Modern Art, Tribeca Festival, and Sitges Film Festival, among others. He is a Film Independent Spirit Award nominee, Gotham Fellow, and graduate of NYU&#8217;s Tisch School of the Arts.

Alex Cox is an English writer-director whose films include Repo Man, Sid and Nancy, Walker, Highway Patrolman and Three Businessmen. Between 1987 and 1994, he was the host of the BBC series Moviedrome. He is currently working on a multi-perspective film about the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, <a href="https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/tombstone-rashomon-directed-by-alex-cox#/" target="_blank">Tombstone Rashomon</a>.

Amy Berg is a critically acclaimed, Emmy-award winning and Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her 2006 documentary Deliver Us From Evil and went on to direct West of Memphis (2012), a documentary about the failure of the justice system in the West Memphis Three case. Amy&#8217;s first narrative feature, Every Secret Thing, was released theatrically in May 2015 and her doc, Prophet’s Prey will open in theatres this fall. Amy’s company, Disarming Films, produces long-form documentaries focusing on social justice.

David Dastmalchian’s latest film <a href="http://www.samuelgoldwynfilms.com/all-creatures-here-below/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">All Creatures Here Below</a>, which he both wrote and stars in with Karen Gillan, is in theaters from May 17 through Samuel Goldwyn Films. The film is his second collaboration with director Collin Schiffli; Dastmalchian won a Special Jury Prize for Courage in Storytelling at SXSW 2014 for their previous film, Animals, which he also wrote and acted in. Dastmalchian made his feature acting debut in Christopher Nolan&#8217;s The Dark Knight and has been a regular in Denis Villeneuve&#8217;s films, including Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049 and the upcoming Dune. He played Kurt in Marvel Studios&#8217; Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp, and on TV appeared as Murdoc in MacGyver and Pit Boss Warrack in Twin Peaks: The Return.
