After attending Los Angeles City College’s film school, Kevin Tent got his first break editing the film Not of This Earth for legendary B-movie producer Roger Corman. Simultaneously Tent tapped into the emerging US Independent film movement, cutting the underground hit Guncrazy, directed by Tamra Davis, and then Citizen Ruth by director Alexander Payne. Tent has cut all of Payne’s movies since, including Election, Sideways, The Descendants (for which he received an Academy Award® nomination) and most recently Downsizing. After his long and sordid career in editing, Tent makes his directorial debut with Crash Pad an Original Black List selected screenplay written by Jeremy Catalino. The comedy, starring Domnhall Gleason, Thomas Haden Church and Christina Applegate, opens theatrically on October 27 through Vertical Entertainment.

What I Learned “Co-Directing” Ultra Warrior for Roger Corman

Writer-director Edgar Wright&#8216;s latest film, the documentary <a href="https://www.focusfeatures.com/the-sparks-brothers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Sparks Brothers</a>, is in theaters through Focus Features from June 18. Wright first made his mark in the late 1990s with the British TV comedy series Spaced, written by Jessica Hynes and Simon Pegg, and starring Hynes, Pegg and Nick Frost. Wright reteamed with Pegg and Frost on his 2004 breakthrough feature, the international smash hit zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead, and also on the two subsequent parts of the “Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy,” Hot Fuzz (2007) and The World&#8217;s End (2013), both of which were also big hits. Wright co-wrote and directed the star-studded Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010), based on the graphic novels by Bryan Lee O&#8217;Malley, and wrote and directed the 2017 critical and commercial hit, Baby Driver, an action thriller starring Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx. Her feature debut as writer-director, Darlin&#8216;, had its world premiere at SXSW 2019, has subsequently played at festivals such as What the Fest!?, and is forthcoming in theaters later this summer. Her recent work in film has included The Woman, Filth, Let Us Prey, Burke and Hare and Tales of Halloween, while on TV she appeared in Sundance Channel&#8217;s Hap and Leonard and was the female lead in the BBC political comedy, Bob Servant Independent, starring alongside Brian Cox. Nacho Vigalondo is a Spanish writer-director and producer whose latest film, Colossal, starring Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis, was released theatrically by Neon in 2017. Vigalondo burst onto the American film scene with his riveting directorial debut Timecrimes, which premiered at Austin&#8217;s Fantastic Fest in 2008. Vigalondo went on to write, direct and produce Extraterrestrial, which was released in U.S. theaters by Focus Features. In 2014, he premiered Open Windows, starring Elijah Wood and Sasha Grey. Vigalondo has won more than 80 awards in national and international film festivals. In 2005, his short 7:35 in the Morning was nominated for an Oscar for Best Short Film in addition to a European Film Award. Jeffrey Reddick shot to horror fame with the creation of the horror classic Final Destination, which spawned four sequels and has earned over $650 million dollars at the worldwide box office. Reddick has sold, or optioned, more than 25 projects for film and television and has produced more than 12. Jeffrey’s most recent film, Dead Awake, was released in May 2017. Other produced credits include Lionsgate’s thriller Tamara and the remake of George Romero’s classic Day of the Dead. Jeffrey is making the move into directing and is currently developing The Horror Show and a feature version of his 2014 short film Good Samaritan.

He studied film at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Theater Arts &amp; Film. The Transfiguration premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2016, and O&#8217;Shea&#8217;s next film, A Spectacle, was selected for Rotterdam Cinemart 2017. The Transfiguration opens at the Angelika Film Center in New York City on April 7 and at the NuArt Theater in Los Angeles on April 21, with more cities to follow.

Frankie Latina is an Italian-American independent writer-director born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who began using his uncle Dave&#8217;s Super 8mm camera to make movies when he was a teenager. He studied film at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he learned how to make 16mm movies, and made his feature debut in 2009 with Modus Operandi. It was released theatrically by Kino Lorber in 2010 and is now available on VOD. <a href="http://www.frankielatina.com/" target="_blank">Latina</a> is currently making his second feature, Snapshot.
