His bylines include The Atlantic, Slate, The Wire and The New Yorker. His new book Stay True: A Memoir, is out now via Doubleday Publishing. We talked to him about his writing career and what is was like when he was was cutting his teeth in Berkley's hip hop scene of the mid nineties.
