Shamir Bailey is an artist from North Las Vegas. His pop music debut, Ratchet, came out in 2015 on XL Recordings. After a year of headline and festival dates around the world, he’s settled in Philadelphia, where he’s begun working on a follow-up.

Shamir is Shamir and remains Shamir through and through, no matter what the universe puts him through. You may know the singularly named artist (think—Madonna or Cher) from his 2015 debut hit record Rachet, beloved by NPR listeners and club kids alike. After quickly rising to underground fame with his Northtown EP in 2014, the DIY pop star made a sonic splash with Rachet’s lead single “On The Regular,” a poppy banger that had extensive commercial usage. But how to follow all that up? Shamir, who came from the dusty dunes of Las Vegas, to Brooklyn’s Silent Barn, to the Philly indie scene (and all over the world in between), wanted to go back to what had inspired him from the beginning. Outsider music, country &amp; punk. Raw and vulnerable tunes, stripped down to their emotional core. 2017’s Revelations explored a new avenue of guitar driven hooky indie rock and was widely critically praised in the US and overseas.
Shamir’s most recent releases, the brilliant Room 7” on Father/Daughter, and his self-released limited edition album, Resolution, are pinnacles in the catalog of the increasingly fascinating artist’s career. Room and its b-side Caballero celebrate Shamir’s love of country music, while Resolution is a deeply introspective look into the fabric of society and the artists’ own mind.  With these two releases he has refined his craft exponentially and done so in less than six months from the release of Revelations.

John Waters has written and directed sixteen movies, including Multiple Maniacs, Pink Flamingos, Polyester, Hairspray, Cry-Baby, Serial Mom and A Dirty Shame. He is also a photographer whose work has been shown in galleries all over the world and the author of several books, including Shock Value, Crackpot, Art: A Sex Book (cowritten with Bruce Hainley), Role Models and the 2014 bestseller Carsick, which chronicles his adventure hitchhiking across the United States in May 2012. The restoration of Multiple Maniacs is out now through Janus Films.

Born into a musical family in Los Angeles, jazz musician Kamasi Washington attended the prestigious Hamilton High School of Music followed by UCLA. He has toured and recorded with Snoop Dogg, Raphael Saadiq, Kendrick Lamar, Gerald Wilson, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def and Chaka Khan, among others. With his 10-piece band, the Next Step, Kamasi recently released his groundbreaking album The Epic and is currently on tour worldwide. Zac Stuart-Pontier is an editor and producer based in New York City. He cut the documentaries Catfish and NY Export: Opus Jazz, and the fiction features Martha Marcy May Marlene, Simon Killer and the upcoming Bleed for This. He was a writer, co-producer and editor on the highly acclaimed HBO series The Jinx. In 2010, he was selected by Filmmaker magazine as one of their &#8220;25 New Faces of Independent Film.&#8221;

Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have been filmmaking partners since 2006 and founded the New York City production company <a href="http://www.supermarche.nyc" target="_blank">Supermarché</a>. They made their feature debut with the acclaimed documentary Catfish (2010), which went on to spawn the MTV series of the same name, on which they are executive producers. Their next films, Paranormal Activity 3 and Paranormal Activity 4, together grossed $350 million dollars. Their latest film, Nerve, a high-octane thriller starring Dave Franco and Emma Roberts, is out now in theaters.

Bill Plympton is considered the King of Indie Animation and is the first person to hand draw an entire animated feature film. He was Oscar nominated for his animated shorts Your Face (1987) and Guard Dog (2005); another short film, Push Comes to Shove (1991), won the prestigious Palme d’Or at Cannes. Since 1991 he’s made 10 feature films, seven of them – The Tune, Mondo Plympton, I Married A Strange Person, Mutant Aliens, Hair High, Idiots and Angels and Cheatin&#8217; – animated features.

Lloyd Kaufman, co-founder of Troma Entertainment, directed many of their feature films, including The Toxic Avenger, The Class of Nuke ‘Em High, Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD, Tromeo &amp; Juliet and Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead. Kaufman has written six books and presented his “Make Your Own Damn Movie” masterclasses globally. His latest film, Return to Nuke ‘Em High Vol. 1, produced in association with Starz, premiered in 2014 and screened in The Contenders series at MoMA. He is currently working on Return to Nuke &#8216;Em High Vol. 2 and The Toxic Avenger Part V.

She has been featured on the popular storytelling series The Moth and been a regular panelist on NPR&#8217;s Wait Wait&#8230;Don&#8217;t Tell Me! She&#8217;s been published in Esquire and Cosmopolitan, and has had her own half-hour Comedy Central stand-up special. Terence Nance is an Artist, Musician, and Filmmaker born in Dallas, Texas in what was then referred to as the State-Thomas community. Nance wrote, directed, scored, and starred in his first feature film, <a href="http://ofherbeauty.com">An Oversimplification of Her Beauty,</a> which premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2013. In 2014, he was named a Guggenheim Fellow. In the summer of 2018, Terence’s Peabody award-winning television series Random Acts of Flyness debuted on HBO to great critical acclaim, and was renewed for a second season by the network. His latest release as a musician, Vortex+, came out in early 2025.

Academy Award-winning writer-director Michel Gondry began his career directing music videos for artists including Daft Punk, Beck, Radiohead, Paul McCartney and The White Stripes.  Since his debut film Human Nature, Gondry has gone on to direct The Science of Sleep, Be Kind Rewind, The Green Hornet, The We and the I and Mood Indigo, and the documentaries Dave Chapelle&#8217;s Block Party, The Thorn in the Heart and Is the Man Who is Tall Happy?.  His second feature film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, earned Gondry an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Gondry&#8217;s latest film, Microbe and Gasoline, is in theaters now.
