Larry Livermore was the co-founder of Lookout Records, the editor and publisher of Lookout magazine, and a longtime columnist for Maximum Rocknroll and Punk Planet. Long before there was an East Bay pop punk explosion, Livermore fronted solar-powered punks the Lookouts and the Smiths-like acoustic pop band the Potatomen. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY and recently published his fascinating memoir, How To Ru(i)n A Record Label.

Three Great Things: Larry Livermore of Lookout! Records

Ned Russin co-fronted Title Fight for many years before the band suspended operations and Ned became Glitterer. He initially self-released two EPs that were odd, charming, clever, eloquent, and highly proficient records, hand-made in the spartan bedroom-pop mode: some programmed drums and keyboards with an electric bass and a voice. The songs were about the trap of self-awareness and the impossible dream of self-negation; and despite their being, combined, all of about 18 minutes long, they left long-lasting impressions, stuck themselves in peoples’ heads and stayed put. Lyrically, many of the songs on Glitterer’s debut full-length Life Is Not A Lesson are short, dialectical considerations of the countless daily miniature panic attacks that attend the rigorously examined life. Life is Not a Lesson proves to be a rigorous reckoning with the life of the mind at a time when there’s not much life outside the mind.

Three Great Things: Ned Russin of Glitterer

XIXA’s Gabriel Sullivan and Brian Lopez’s combined credits include Calexico, KT Tunstall, Orkestra Mendoza, and more as well as both being members of Giant Sand. For their new album Genesis they’ve delved even deeper into their admiration for Peruvian chicha, extracted and refined the core, and given voice to their most primal instincts. They are joined on select tracks by renowned artists from across the globe including Sergio Mendoza, Imarhan, and the Uummannaq Children’s Choir, which features youth from an orphanage in a small village in Northern Greenland. They’re also joined by drummer Winston Watson, who has done long stints with Bob Dylan, Alice Cooper, and Warren Zevon, among others.

Jillian Bell is an American comedian, actress and screenwriter. She starred in the 2019 film Brittany Runs a Marathon, as Jillian Belk on Workaholics, and had a recurring role as Dixie on the final season of Eastbound &amp; Down. She&#8217;s also appeared in 22 Jump Street, Fist Fight and Godmothered. Since 2019, Bell has voiced the role of Violet Hart in Bless the Harts, and she is currently starring alongside Steve Zahn and newcomer Sasha Knight in Samuel Goldwyn&#8217;s <a href="http://www.samuelgoldwynfilms.com/cowboys/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cowboys</a>.

Three Great Things: Jillian Bell

Tahar Rahim’s latest film is <a href="http://www.stxfilms.com/themauritanian/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Mauritanian</a>, for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Bets Actor in a Motion Picture Drama; the real-life legal drama also starring Jodie Foster, Shailene Woodley and Benedict Cumberbatch is out February 12 through STX Films. Rahim’s breakthrough came when he played the main role Jacques Audiard’s 2009 thriller A Prophet. Since then, he has worked all over the world, in films such as Kevin Macdonald’s The Eagle, alongside Channing Tatum, in Asghar Farhadi’s The Past, Fatih Akin’s The Cut, Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Daguerrotype and opposite Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix in Garth Davis’ Mary Magdalene. He starred with Jeff Daniels in the series The Looming Tower and plays in the main role in the BBC/Netflix co-production The Serpent.

Grammy-winning artist and producer Knox Fortune has released his highly anticipated sophomore album Stock Child Wonder via Nice Work. Shannon Lee is the CEO and Owner of the Bruce Lee Family Companies. Shannon’s mission is to provide access for people to Bruce Lee’s philosophy through education and entertainment. In addition to being the daughter of Bruce Lee, Shannon is the Executive Producer of Cinemax’s Warrior, based on her father’s writings, as well as a singer, actor, producer, speaker, writer, and mother. Her first book, Be Water, My Friend, was published this October. The book explores the philosophies that defined her father’s worldview and looks at how martial arts are a perfect metaphor for personal growth. Shannon also chairs the Bruce Lee Foundation, a 501c3 charity that serves young people by introducing them to martial arts, philosophy, self-discovery, and harmonious living.

Jenna Ushkowitz is currently starring in the raunchy comedy 1 Night in San Diego, opposite Laura Ashley Samuels and Alexandra Daddario, which is out now on digital through 1091. She is best known for her role as Tina Cohen-Chang on the award-winning Fox show Glee. She made her Broadway debut in the 1996 revival of The King and I and returned to the Broadway in the Tony Award-winning production of Spring Awakening, and later played Dawn in Tony-nominated musical Waitress. Ushkowitz made her producing debut on Broadway with the revival of Once on This Island, winning her a Tony Award; she has also served as co-producer of Be More Chill, and received a Tony nomination for The Inheritance on Broadway as a co-producer this year. Jenna is the co-founder of Kindred: The Foundation for Adoption, an American foundation to aid adoptees, and released her memoir Choosing Glee, in May 2013.

Roosevelt is always looking for that special moment. The producer – Marius Lauber – utilizes outstanding electronics, matching club tropes to pangs of melancholy, all wrapped up in gorgeous melodies. Inventive early singles such as “Montreal” led to the outstanding debut album Roosevelt and the bold, addictive follow-up Young Romance, but increased success seemed to take him away from his core desires, from his musical roots. Polydans, his forthcoming album via City Slang / Greco-Roman) has the energy of a club experience, the implicit communication between a musician and the crowd.
