Talkhouse

Tim Koh is an American multi-instrumentalist, composer and visual artist, most notably known as a long time member of the band Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti. His unique bass playing and musicianship has been recognized by many as being an influence. Born and raised in Los Angeles, his early years as a teen were rooted in punk and noise music. Koh’s 
penchant for underground culture, disillusioned with mainstream music and art eventually led him to study at the California Institute Of The Arts.

For almost two decades, Tim has also performed and collaborated with many different types of artists and musicians such as Gang Gang Dance, Connan Mockasin, Hieroglyphic Being, White Magic, Cass McCombs, Chris Cohen, Animal Collective, R. Stevie Moore, Prince Rama, Eddie Ruscha V, Kirin J Callinan, DJ Harvey, No Age, John Wiese, Thurston Moore… the list goes on.
World-weary of the LA scene, Tim has made a new home in Amsterdam, NL where he currently lives and works. Koh’s new solo endeavour showcases his unique talent as a musician and songwriter, his broad range of juxtaposed styles create a distinctive sound that&#8217;s his own. Anchoring his penchant for absurdist pop with more traditional influences from music and literature; spinning out hazy tunes that obscure the line between autobiographical narratives and beautiful, batshit crazy fiction.
Koh hosts a permanent radio show on London’s NTS Radio called Kokonut Trip, works with Amsterdam based store, Red Light Records and has recently launched a new label called Congee Disc, focusing more on his interests in house/techno.

Tobin Sprout is an American artist, musician and children’s book creator. As a musician, he was well known as a founding member of the indie rock band Guided by Voices before going out on his own, releasing his first solo album, Carnival Boy, in 1996. As an artist,Tobin is famous for his photo-realism large format paintings, especially the ‘Superchrome’ series, although he does paint in other styles as well. As a musician, Tobin has inspired a loyal fan base for his pop songs. He has released seven solo albums, and toured to support them. He has also performed in several bands, including recent shows with Guided by Voices. Tobin records many of his songs at his home studio, Moonflower Studios.
This 2020 Tobin returns with a pensive, expansive part autobiographical new album ‘Empty Horses’ due for release 18th September via Fire Records. The album is a meticulously observed study of America and Americana (not the music, but the state of mind). An alternative American Songbook, if you will, a collection of laments to simpler times and the struggle for what’s right, peppered with an examination of faith and the search for a sense of justice. And, as it unravels these gritty anecdotes span the generations from the dividing and the American Civil War through to today’s confusing times.
He’s part Townes Van Zandt, part John Prine, part Robbie Robertson at his retrospective best; his heart beats super-slow on his sleeve – he’s in the cabin at Big Pink, a raconteur on a mission to reminisce; telling stories as only he can. Close up and personal, Empty Horses is a poignant carefully etched experience, a rolling journey in modern times, nodding back to tradition, a personal snapshot filled with honesty.

Caleb Nichols (he/they) is a writer, musician, and librarian from California, occupying Tilhini, the Place of the Full Moon, the unceded territory of the yak titʸu titʸu yak tiłhini tribe. His poetry has been featured in Hoax, Redivider, 14 Poems, and DEAR Poetry Journal, among other publications and his chapbook “Teems///\Recedes&#8221; which Chen Chen called “a gorgeous abundance” is out from Kelp Books. Caleb’s debut solo album Ramon, a queer rock opera based on the Beatles song “Mean Mr. Mustard,” is out on Kill Rock Stars, and he is a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at Bangor University in Wales. Caleb also owns and operates the SLO Book Bike, a queer-owned, bike-powered, pop-up bookshop in San Luis Obispo, and works as a librarian at Cal Poly State University.

William, It Was Really Something

Blissfulness is at the core of Wiseacre, the strikingly purifying sophomore record from Eric Slick. Wiseacre is a location, literally. It’s the place he married the light in his life, Natalie Prass, and titling the record after it is an attempt at bottling the euphoria of his wedding day. The record isn’t just about the joy that comes from a loving existence blossoming out of a new relationship, it’s also about the hard work that it takes to get to that place. The majority of his time has been behind a drum set, spending the last decade rounding out the industrious outfit Dr. Dog, and as of late, touring as a newlywed alongside his wife.

Louise Goffin is a songwriter, musician, and producer with a rich, multi-decade career, spanning 10 solo albums as both a major-label act and her current status as an independent, business-savvy creator both on and off stage. Goffin became a dedicated musician at an early age, opening for Jackson Browne at the world-famous Troubadour when she was 17 and releasing her debut, Kid Blue, as a teenager. She has since performed with some of music’s biggest names; a personal highlight was playing lead guitar and singing harmony on tour with Tears For Fears. She also is a trained producer — recently a graduate of a six-month course at Nashville’s Blackbird Academy — who produced Carole King’s GRAMMY-nominated LP, A Holiday Carole. A natural historian who remains dedicated to exploring, preserving, and demystifying iconic songs, Goffin is behind the newSong Chronicles podcast, the successor to the acclaimed podcast she co-hosted with Paul Zollo, The Great Song Adventure. As the creative director of The Goffin &amp; King Foundation, Goffin also works to preserve the legacy of her parents, Carole King and Gerry Goffin, through providing educational opportunities for songwriters, performers, and musicians. Goffin’s latest release, 2020’s Two Different Movies, is a cinematic record that finds its creator nodding to multiple influences: classic pop, rootsy rock ‘n’ roll, jazzy piano ballads, strutting glam, and the California folk-pop that&#8217;s emanated from her Laurel Canyon stomping grounds for decades. The album cover is special, too: it is a hand-drawn portrait of Goffin by Joni Mitchell, which connects her inspired present with her equally inspiring past.

With Fish Pond Fish, Darlingside — Dave Senft (bass), Don Mitchell (guitar, banjo), Auyon Mukharji (violin, mandolin), and Harris Paseltiner (cello, guitar) — has created a natural history in song, taking us into gardens, almond groves, orchard rows, down to the ocean floor and under stars. The band has long been praised for their harmonies and intelligent songwriting, described by NPR as “exquisitely-arranged, literary-minded, baroque folk-pop,” and their dynamic presence (crowded tightly together onstage) has made them a live-performance favorite.

The Room, the debut album from Grammy-winning multiplatinum producer and songwriter Ricky Reed, was just released via Reed’s own Nice Life Recording Company. Best known for his work with Lizzo, Maggie Rogers, Twenty One Pilots, Halsey, Leon Bridges and many others, The Room marks Reed’s first official full-length following the release of three solo singles from 2016-2017. The album features collaborations from Leon Bridges, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Lido Pimienta, Duendita, Kiana Ledé and John-Robert among others.

It’s the latest in a young career that’s produced three great EPs so far, with a full-length due in 2021. He plays deceptively breezy Americana that’s somewhere on the continuum between John Prine and Kacey Musgraves.
