Twin Peaks’ Colin Croom on the Merits of Having a Studio Game Plan

Sam Esmail is a writer, director and producer working in both film and TV. Esmail made his debut as writer-director with the 2014 feature Comet, starring Emmy Rossum and Justin Long, which was released by IFC Films. Esmail is best known as the creator and show runner of the highly acclaimed, Emmy and Golden Globe-winning TV show Mr. Robot, starring Rami Malek and Christian Slater, which is currently in its third season on USA.

Mark Frost is a screenwriter, director, producer and author, best known for co-creating and co-writing Twin Peaks and Twin Peaks: The Return with David Lynch. He began his TV career as writer on shows such as The Six Million Dollar Man, The Equalizer and Hill Street Blues before conceiving Twin Peaks with Lynch. He wrote and directed the 1992 film Storyville, starring James Spader, and is also the co-writer of both Fantastic Four (2005) and and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). He has written 14 books, both fiction and non-fiction, most recently the companion volumes The Secret History of Twin Peaks and Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier. Revisited: Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot) Talks with Mark Frost (Twin Peaks) for the Talkhouse Podcast

Jane Schoenbrun is a non-binary American filmmaker, writer and curator best known for writing and directing and editing the acclaimed features We’re All Going to the World’s Fair (2021) and I Saw the TV Glow (2024), both which world premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Their third feature, Teenage Sex and Death and Camp Miasma, is forthcoming this year through A24. Jane is the co-creator of the touring variety series The Eyeslicer, the director of the feature documentary A Self-Induced Hallucination (2018), a producer of Aaron Schimberg’s Chained for Life (2019), an executive producer of season one of Terence Nance’s Random Acts of Flyness, and the creator of the omnibus “dream film” collective:unconscious (2016). Chrysta Bell, actress and longtime musical partner of David Lynch, released her sophomore album, <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/we-dissolve/id1233754480?ls=1&amp;app=itunes">We Dissolve</a>, in June 2017. She is currently appearing in Twin Peaks in the role of FBI Agent Tamara Preston, acting alongside Miguel Ferrer and David Lynch. Lynch, who wrote and produced Chrysta Bell’s 11-song debut, This Train (2011), as well as her acclaimed 2016 EP, Somewhere in the Nowhere, says that she “is not only a killer performer, she also has a great intuitive ability to catch a mood and find a melody that’s really spectacular,” and recalls, “The first time I saw her perform, I thought she was like an alien. The most beautiful alien ever.” Bell’s professional career as musician began after being signed by RCA Victor at the age of 18 as the lead vocalist for the popular Austin-based gypsy swing act 8 ½ Souvenirs. In her four-year tenure with the band, Chrysta Bell delighted audiences on many North American tours and shared the stage with legendary musicians such as Willie Nelson and Brian Setzer. David Lynch’s Muse on the Impact He Has Had on Her Life

Matthew Wilder wrote Paul Schrader&#8217;s Dog Eat Dog, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and just played at the Toronto International Film Festival. It opens in November. Looking Glass, a script co-written by Wilder, goes into production next month and stars Nicolas Cage, also the star of Dog Eat Dog. This fall Wilder will direct his second self-written feature, Morning Has Broken, starring Peter Bogdanovich and Lydia Hearst.

David Lynch’s Alternative Facts, or How Twin Peaks is the Only Response to Trumpian Surrealism

Brea Grant is a filmmaker/actress best known for her roles on Heroes, Dexter, and Friday Night Lights. Her second feature as writer-director, the horror thriller <a href="https://www.12hourshiftfilm.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">12 Hour Shift</a>, is out October 2 in theaters and on demand through Magnet Releasing. Her first feature, Best Friends Forever, an apocalyptic road trip movie, premiered at Slamdance in 2013. In 2017, she became a producer on the Emmy-nominated LGBTQ series EastSiders, and in 2018, she wrote and directed an episode of the show. One month after 12 Hour Shift wrapped in Arkansas, Brea starred in the film Lucky, which she also wrote. It is directed by Natasha Kermani (Imitation Girl) and was set to premiere at SXSW 2020 before it was cancelled due to COVID-19. Brea has directed many shorts, including the award-winning Feminist 
Campfire Stories and Megan, 26. She has also directed television for the CW and 
writes comic books. She continues to act and recently was in Jeremy Gardner’s After 
Midnight and just completed shooting Jill Sixx’s The Stylist opposite Najarra 
Townsend.
