Revisited: Lake Bell Talks with Santigold for the Talkhouse Podcast

Santigold is a genre-defying musician, style renegade, and visionary artist across multiple platforms celebrated for her fearless ability to fuse unexpected elements into bold new work. An artist whose perseverance relies on invention, her singular aesthetic has made her a major muse watched by the inspired world. She&#8217;s had a #1 record on Billboard&#8217;s Dance/Electronic chart, won an ASCAP Pop Music award (Vanguard Award), and has been nominated for a Q Award, MTV Europe Music Award, and BRIT Award. She has written for other artists including Christina Aguilera, GZA and Lilly Allen and contributed new work to film soundtracks including The Hunger Games, Paper Towns and the Power Rangers movie as well as series like The Get Down and Girls. She has also played comedic roles on The Office and Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV. Her brand collaborations include a custom sneaker for Vans, an accessories collection for Stance, and a make up collection for Smashbox for which she also designed the packaging. Santigold is a passionate humanitarian who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness for the worldwide water crisis and has performed for VH1&#8217;s Save the Music to help preserve music education in public schools. (Image by Craig Wetherby.)

Lake Bell serves as co-creator, co-writer, executive producer, and star opposite Dax Shepard in ABC’s Bless This Mess, a new single-camera comedy that centers on a newlywed couple that gives up their drab and unfulfilling lives in New York and moves to Nebraska for a simpler life. Bell also directed the pilot, and the series will return for its second season this upcoming Fall. Bell can currently be seen reprising her role as the lackadaisical cat Chloe in the second installment of Universal’s The Secret Life of Pets 2 opposite Patton Oswalt, Bobby Moynihan, Jenny Slate, Dana Carvey, Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart. This fall, Bell will be voicing Poison Ivy in the upcoming DC Universe animated series Harley Quinn. Bell made her debut as writer-director-star with the acclaimed 2013 comedy In a World, and in 2016 followed it up with I Do … Until I Don’t, a romantic comedy about marriage in which she co-starred with Ed Helms, Mary Steenburgen, Paul Reiser, Amber Heard, Wyatt Cenac and Dolly Wells.

Holiday Mountain is an electronic music duo founded by Mexican-American songwriter/keyboardist Laura Patiño and drummer/producer Zander Kagle. The two met in Boston while attending Berklee College of Music and together found a genre-expanding sound, fusing together their affinity for pop, hip-hop, and electronic music. The result is a force so strong that when describing their sound, NPR exclaimed, &#8220;resistance is futile.&#8221;

How Performance Art Helped Me Stop Hating My Body

Josh Strawn is currently one half of the electronic duo Azar Swan and the lead singer of the moody metal supergroup Vaura. He was closely involved with the now-defunct Wierd Records label and party, at which time he fronted the post-punk band Blacklist and played in the psychedelic doom folk band Religious to Damn with Azar Swan co-conspirator Zohra Atash. He has contributed written works of political and cultural commentary to various publications including Flavorwire and Slutist.
