Jessica Hausner was born in Vienna, Austria in 1972. She studied directing at the Film Academy of Vienna where she made the award-winning short films, Flora (1996) and Inter-View (1999). In 2001, her debut feature film, Lovely Rita, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in Un Certain Regard. She returned to Un Certain Regard with her second feature, Hotel, in 2004. In 2009, Lourdes was selected in Competition at the Venice Film Festival, where it was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize. Amour Fou was Hausner’s third film to be presented in Un Certain Regard, where it premiered in 2014. <a href="https://www.littlejoefilm.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Little Joe</a>, her English-language debut starring Emily Beecham, Ben Whishaw and Kerry Fox, is in select theaters through Magnolia Pictures from December 6.

An Evening in Krems

Lulu Wang is a classical-pianist-turned-filmmaker. Her latest film, <a href="https://a24films.com/films/the-farewell" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Farewell</a>, premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and is currently in theaters through A24. Her first feature, Posthumous, starring Jack Huston and Brit Marling, was released by The Orchard. Born in Beijing, raised in Miami, and educated in Boston, Lulu is a recipient of the 2014 Chaz and Roger Ebert Directing Fellowship, awarded at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. She&#8217;s also a 2014 Film Independent Project Involve Directing fellow and a 2017 fellow with Sundance Institute’s FilmTwo Initiative, a program supporting second-time feature filmmakers. Ruben Östlund is an award-winning Swedish filmmaker who began his career directing ski videos. He has become well known for his humorous and accurate portrayal of human social behaviour, as well as for his renowned used of Photoshop and other forms of image-processing software in his films. Östlund is best known for his 2017 Palme d’Or-winning and Oscar-nominated film The Square, his 2014 Force Majeure, which won the Jury Prize at Cannes and was nominated for a Golden Globe, and his 2011 feature Play, which won the Coup de cœur at Cannes before playing at Venice and Toronto. David Lowery is a filmmaker from Texas. His work as a director has been shown at Sundance, SXSW and the Cannes Film Festival, and includes Pioneer, St. Nick and Ain&#8217;t Them Bodies Saints. As an editor, he has cut such films as Bad Fever, Sun Don&#8217;t Shine and Upstream Color, for which he received an Independent Spirit Nomination. As of this writing he is working on a movie about a dragon.
