Getting run over by a 1956 Buick at sixty years of age can really motivate you to get your ducks in a row. After the near-death experience, Dennis Dougherty decided he needed to leave behind the comforts of suburban life and get back in the studio to make the best record of his life. Exactly twenty-five years after his 1991 album Pony Ride, Dennis is back with 2016&#8217;s Get the Angle Right.

Two Generations of Musicians Share How One Inspired the Other

Juliana Hatfield is a singer, songwriter and guitar player. She began her music career in the late 1980s in Boston with the Blake Babies. Since then she has released approximately fifteen solo albums and been involved with numerous other groups including the Lemonheads, Some Girls (with Freda Love Smith) and MInor Alps (with Matthew Caws from Nada Surf). Her latest project is a collaboration with Paul Westerberg called the I Don’t Cares. Their debut album, Wild Stab, came out in early 2016. Hatfield&#8217;s new album, Pussycat, will be released on April 28, 2017.

Bree McKenna is a musician, writer, Libra and feminist witch living in Seattle. She splits her time playing bass in Tacocat, the Hardly Art punk pop band responsible for anti-street harassment anthem &#8220;Hey Girl&#8221; and celebratory menstruation surf-rock hit &#8220;Crimson Wave,&#8221; and in pregnancy-themed supergroup Childbirth, who write funny feminist punk songs gleefully commemorating questionable sexual decisions and skewering dudes who ask rude questions about scissoring. As a writer, McKenna&#8217;s work has appeared in She Shreds, Vice and Seattle alternative weekly the Stranger, notably satirizing music journalism misogyny in a &#8220;Men Who Rock!&#8221; issue and calling out punk scene sexism in her essay &#8220;Sexist Queers.&#8221; McKenna loves chihuahuas, essential oils, and spell-casting.

Chris Gethard is a comedian, actor, and author based out of New Jersey. He’s the host of the Beautiful/Anonymous podcast, the former host of the underground cult classic The Chris Gethard Show, and the writer and star of the HBO special Career Suicide. As an actor, Chris has been seen in television shows such as Space Force, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Broad City, Inside Amy Schumer, and a lot more. He’s been in films like Don’t Think Twice, The Other Guys, The Heat, Anchorman 2 and Ghostbusters. Chris is the author of three books. He’s had a number of pieces appear on This American Life. He also travels the country both with Beautiful/Anonymous and his stand-up comedy, performing to sold out crowds all over America and much of the rest of the English-speaking world.

Andy Gill is a founding member and guitarist for the British rock group Gang of Four, considered one of the most influential bands since the mid ’70s. Noted for his innovative guitar technique, Gill also produced most of Gang of Four’s output, as well as albums for many other artists including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Jesus Lizard, the Stranglers, Therapy?, Michael Hutchence &amp; Bono, Killing Joke and the Futureheads.
