My Problems with Picard

Krys Marshall has wasted no time establishing herself as a promising young actress, gaining respect and accolades for her hard work on the stage and screen. She can currently be seen as a series regular in the AppleTV+ series For All Mankind playing the role of Danielle Poole, a NASA engineer and astronaut. The series explores what would have happened if the global space race had never ended, and Krys’ character Danielle is the first African-American astronaut of NASA and the first black woman to set foot on the moon. They are currently filming the show’s second season. When not working, Krys loves to travel, and has visited more than 50 countries, across five continents.

Aisha Tyler is an actress, broadcaster, writer and filmmaker. She is known for her roles in the TV series Friends, Ghost Whisperer, Criminal Minds and Archer, and is also currently the co-host of CBS&#8217; The Talk and the host of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and the podcast Girl on Guy. She recorded the comedy special Aisha Tyler is Lit: Live at the Fillmore in 2009, and is the author of two books, including Self-Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Epic Humiliation. Her directorial debut feature, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/Axisthefilm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Axis</a>, is available on VOD from April 10.

Mark Rappaport’s film include From the Journals of Jean Seberg and Rock Hudson’s Home Movies. Since 2014, Rappaport has made 20 video essays ranging from 10 minutes to an hour, including one for Talkhouse, <a href="../video-essay-mark-rappaport-on-the-empty-screen/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Empty Screen</a>. His new book, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Book-Dreams-Mark-Rappaport/dp/6086733902" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Book of Dreams</a>, a mesmerizing collection of almost 100 photomontages, is now available to buy. Four collections of his essays and fictions — all about film — The Moviegoer Who Knew Too Much, (F)au(x)tobiographies, and The Secret Life Of Moving Shadows — Pt 1 and Pt 2 are available as e-books.

Underrated/Overlooked: Jim Hemphill on Shaft

Peter Strickland started making short films on Super 8 and 16 mm in the early &#8217;90s. After directing his adaptation of Kafka&#8217;s Metamorphosis for Reading&#8217;s Progress Theatre in 1992, he went on to direct a short film called Bubblegum (starring Warhol superstar Holly Woodlawn). After a long hiatus, making culinary soundscapes with The Sonic Catering Band, he returned to film in the early part of this century. His first feature film, Katalin Varga (starring Hilda Péter) was funded from an inheritance and shot and edited on a budget of £25,000. The Transylvanian tragedy led to funding from the British film industry. He made the Milano-Dorking sonic anguish of Berberian Sound Studio (starring Toby Jones) followed in 2012, followed by the dominant/submissive romance The Duke of Burgundy (starring Sidse Babett Knudsen). In the past few years, he has made several radio plays and a concert film for Björk, co-directed with Nick Fenton, and his fourth feature, the Thames Valley January Sales nightmare In Fabric (starring Marianne Jean-Baptiste). Aron Eli Coleite is the showrunner and executive producer of Daybreak, which premiered on October 24 on Netflix, starring Matthew Broderick. Aron is also the Executive Producer of Locke &amp; Key, an adaptation of Joe Hill’s graphic novel, premiering on Netflix in 2020. Previously, Coleite worked on Season 1 of CBS’ Star Trek Discovery where he received a Saturn Award and a Hugo Nomination for his work. He got his start on the acclaimed NBC series Heroes and on the feature side, he recently adapted the iconic, best-selling graphic novel Amulet for 20th Century Fox with Temple Hill producing.
