Producer Mynette Louie (Land Ho!) Talks Gil Kenan’s Poltergeist

Rodney Ascher is a filmmaker known for working in the spaces between documentaries, collage, and genre films. His feature debut, Room 237, managed a theatrical release despite the fact that it was made on a home computer in his living room. Other projects include The Nightmare, Primal Screen, Haunted, Horrifying Sounds From Beyond the Grave, and as editor, Andy Kaufman’s posthumous (?) comedy album, Andy and His Grandmother. A Glitch in the Matrix, his latest, explores Simulation Theory and, knock on wood, will premiere later this year. Lloyd Kaufman, co-founder of Troma Entertainment, directed many of their feature films, including The Toxic Avenger, The Class of Nuke ‘Em High, Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD, Tromeo &amp; Juliet and Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead. Kaufman has written six books and presented his “Make Your Own Damn Movie” masterclasses globally. His latest film, Return to Nuke ‘Em High Vol. 1, produced in association with Starz, premiered in 2014 and screened in The Contenders series at MoMA. He is currently working on Return to Nuke &#8216;Em High Vol. 2 and The Toxic Avenger Part V.

Vincent Grashaw&#8216;s latest film, the horror thriller <a href="https://www.shudder.com/movies/watch/what-josiah-saw/b47611958e68455a" target="_blank" rel="noopener">What Josiah Saw</a>, starring Robert Patrick, Nick Stahl, Scott Haze, Kelli Garner and Tony Hale, is now streaming exclusively on Shudder. Grashaw made his directorial debut with Coldwater, an intense juvenile reform drama that premiered at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival and was released theatrically in 2014, and followed it up with the intense high-school drama And Then I Go, starring Arman Darbo, Sawyer Barth, Melanie Lynskey and Justin Long. Grashaw produced Evan Glodell&#8217;s critically acclaimed Bellflower, receiving an Independent Spirit Award nomination for the John Cassavetes Award, as well as the forthcoming Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins, starring David Arquette, Troian Bellisario and Olivia Taylor Dudley.

By 2012, the Twisted Twins had released a number of directorial works including American Mary, all through their production company, <a href="http://www.twistedtwinsproductions.net/" target="_blank">Twisted Twins Productions</a>. Their recent projects include See No Evil 2, ABCs of Death 2 and the upcoming Vendetta.

Julian Gilbey began his movie career with the low-budget 2002 horror film Reckoning Day, working on the project as director, screenwriter, actor, cinematographer, editor, make-up artist and costume designer. He next wrote, directed and edited the crime dramas Rollin&#8217; With the Nines (2006) and edited Rise of the Footsoldier (2007). In 2011, he directed and edited the survival thriller A Lonely Place to Die and followed it with the international thriller Plastic. He directed a segment of The ABCs of Death 2 in 2014.

Juan Martinez Moreno was born in Madrid, and lives in London and Los Angeles. He worked for 10 years as AD. After two short films, he made his feature debut with Two Tough Guys in 2002, and followed it with A Good Man in 2007. His last movie, Game of Werewolves, was selected in more than 30 International Film Festivals, and won several awards, including the Audience Award in Fantasia Montreal 2012 and the Critic&#8217;s Award in Fantasporto 2012. He directed a segment of The ABCs of Death 2 in 2014.

Steven Kostanski is one of the members of Astron-6, a Canadian film production and directing company known for producing low-budget, &#8217;80s-centric, independent movies that often combine horror with comedy. The company was also the focus of the 2012 documentary No Sleep, No Surrender, which details the making and production of their 2011 film Father&#8217;s Day. Steven also directed the low-fi hit Manborg and works in makeup FX on major studio films. He directed a segment of The ABCs of Death 2 in 2014.

Clay Liford is an independent filmmaker living in Austin, TX. He has written and directed several shorts (such as My Mom Smokes Weed and Earthling) and the features Earthling and Wuss, and shot/edited over 20 other features, including St. Nick and Gayby. Kat Candler&#8216;s award-winning short films Hellion and Black Metal have screened at Sundance, SXSW, Los Angeles Film Festival, and many more. Her feature film, Hellion starring Aaron Paul and Juliette Lewis, premiered in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and was released theatrically by IFC Films. Hellion was a Sundance Creative Producing Lab participant and San Francisco Film Society/Kenneth Rainin Foundation Grant recipient, and Candler received the same grant for her upcoming Untitled Metal Feature script.
