PACKS and Triples Get To Know Each Other Better

Leah Warshawski specializes in producing and directing documentaries, television, commercials, corporate videos, non-profit and brand videos around the globe. Her career in film began in Hawai’i for shows including Lost and Baywatch. Leah&#8217;s first feature doc, Finding Hillywood, took place in Rwanda and won six awards after its Seattle International Film Festival premiere in 2013. Her second feature doc, Big Sonia (2016), won 22 awards, screened for Congress, qualified for an Academy Award, and had a three-year run on PBS. Last year, Leah launched a nationwide screening and impact tour for her award-winning short film, Uncle Bully’s Surf Skool (2023), filmed in Lahaina before, during and after the devastating wildfires. Leah also consults with filmmakers about audience engagement, distribution and social impact. Her personal journey is the inspiration for her TedX Talk called <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkAMHQhabkU" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;How Do You Cope with the Trauma You Didn’t Experience?&#8221;</a> and the subject of a chapter she wrote for Soul Success, a #1 best-selling book on Amazon. She is currently based between Seattle, Idaho and Maui.

Big Sonia and the Big 100

Sadie Bones is a 19-year-old screenwriter, director, and actor whose debut feature, <a href="https://ifthatmockingbirddontsing.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">If That Mockingbird Don’t Sing</a>, is out on digital from October 14. Born in Los Angeles and raised in New York City, Sadie is the only child of actor Kevin Corrigan, and had a childhood infused with the magic of cinema. At just eight years old, she wrote and directed her first short Film, Ellipses, and also directed the narrative short The Vanishing Point and the documentary short film Existential Hokey Pokey. She attended the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts and after graduating early, enrolled in the two-year conservatory program at the Lee Strasberg Theatre &amp; Film Institute.

Revisited: Hound & I: How Growing Up the Daughter of Actor Kevin Corrigan Shaped Me as an Artist and Person

Deborah Goodwin is a writer-director-producer whose work in film and television began as a development executive for Sanford-Pillsbury Productions (Desperately Seeking Susan, River’s Edge, How to Make an American Quilt). Deborah’s Urbanworld Film Festival Best Screenplay win for her darkly provocative family drama Cherrys launched her filmmaking path. She has written for Emmy-winning and Independent Spirit Award-nominated producers, and for shows like the cult favorite horror series Tales from the Cryptkeeper. She is a Film Independent and IFP lab fellow and an ABC and NBC diversity showcase director, best known for her horror fable Vampires in Venice and her action/drama The Pastor, released by Fathom Events and AMC. Her Icelandic noir Snaeland, which she co-wrote and produced, premiered at the Vail Film Festival and screens in the Brooklyn Film Festival 2020. Deborah is a Sundance Collab advisor and screenwriting professor at Brooklyn College, and a newly minted co-creator and writer of the noir-crime-thriller series Hot Freeze, with Canadian producer Nomadic Pictures (Hell on Wheels, Van Helsing, Fargo).

Revisited: My Dad Was One Battle After Another

Haroula Rose is a filmmaker and performer from Chicago, now living in Los Angeles. In 2025, All Happy Families, her sophomore feature film as writer, director and producer, was released in theaters nationwide. The film was executive produced by Michael Shannon and stars Josh Radnor, Becky Ann Baker, Chandra Russell, Rob Huebel, John Ashton, David Pasquesi and Colleen Camp. Her debut feature as writer-director, Once Upon a River, an adaptation of the bestselling novel, won 19 awards at over 40 festivals worldwide. Haroula was selected to be part of Hello Sunshine’s short film series, for which she wrote and directed a romcom fable called Hound of Love. Other acclaimed short films and videos include As They Slept, Lost &amp; Found, Wedding Dress, No Love Song and Baby Crazy. Rose received her BA and MA from the University of Chicago, and attended USC&#8217;s MFA program. As a producer she has worked on Ryan Coogler’s Fruitvale Station, David Sington’s The Fear of Thirteen, Heaven Adores You, Permanent and Saint Frances. Rose has released three LPs as well as remixes, singles and EP’s with Thirty Tigers and Tone Tree Music. Her latest collaboration is a group of compositions with Oliver Hill, released on Ba Da Bing Records in early 2025.

Some Holiday Spirit: On Film and Chosen Families

Jeremy Xido is a filmmaker and actor whose latest documentary, <a href="https://cabula6.org/sonsofdetroit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sons of Detroit</a>, a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQeN8GOUnsc" target="_blank" rel="noopener">genre-bending documentary</a> based partly on his childhood, premieres at <a href="https://www.docnyc.net/film/sons-of-detroit/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DOC NYC</a> today. Originally from Detroit, Jeremy graduated cum laude in Painting and Comparative Literature from Columbia University, NY and trained at the Actor&#8217;s Studio. Working as a dancer, actor and filmmaker, he has performed and presented work around the world on stage, TV and in cinema. Currently he is starring in Pia Marais&#8217; new feature film, Transamazonia, which premiered in competition in Locarno, and Amazon MGM Studio&#8217;s new series, House of David. Jeremy&#8217;s film directing credits include the award-winning feature documentary <a href="http://deathmetalangola.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Death Metal Angola</a> (IFFRotterdam), the six-part series “Crime Europe,&#8221; and the short documentaries “Macondo,” &#8220;Dive,&#8221; and &#8220;Care,&#8221; in addition to several narrative shorts. Last year he also premiered the feature documentary <a href="https://cabula6.org/thebones" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Bones</a>, about the international dinosaur bone trade, which played at CPH/DOX, Hotdocs, Sydney and DC/DOX.

A Sort of Homecoming

Ramon Zürcher is a Swiss writer-director whose latest film, <a href="https://filmmovement.com/product/the-sparrow-in-the-chimney" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Sparrow in the Chimney</a>, is now on digital. His first feature film, The Strange Little Cat, premiered at the Berlinale Forum in 2013 and was selected at over 80 festivals, including Toronto, Cannes, New Directors/NewFilms and Mar del Plata, winning numerous awards. His second feature film, The Girl and the Spider, also premiered at the Berlinale, where it was awarded the prize for Best Director and the FIPRESCI prize of the Encounters section. In Cahiers du Cinéma, the film ranked eighth on the 2021 Best of the Year list. Erik Jensen and his wife Jessica Blank are a multihyphenate creative team in film, television and theater; The New Yorker calls them “the foremost practitioners of documentary theater in the U.S.” Their new film, Brooklyn, Minnesota, starring Amy Madigan, Sadie Jensen-Blank and Erik Jensen, is currently playing festivals, with a theatrical release planned for 2026; their first feature, Almost Home, was released in 2019 by Vertical. They are currently developing a biopic of legendary rock critic Lester Bangs and have written TV for Fox, 20th TV, Gaumont, Levinson/Fontana, David Simon/Blown Deadline, and Ed Burns. Their plays include The Exonerated (Outer Critics Circle, Lortel, Drama Desk Awards), Aftermath (NYTW; two Drama League noms), How To Be a Rock Critic (CTG, Steppenwolf, Public Theater), The Line (Public Theater) and Coal Country (Public Theater, Cherry Lane/Audible; Lortel, two Drama Desk noms; original music by Steve Earle).
