Jill Magid’s debut feature, <a href="https://theproposal.oscilloscope.net/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Proposal</a>, is in select theaters through Oscilloscope from May 24. American artist and writer Magid’s work is deeply ingrained in her lived experience, exploring and blurring the boundaries between art and life. Through her performance-based practice, Magid has initiated intimate relations with a number of organizations and structures of authority. She explores the emotional, philosophical and legal tensions between the individual and “protective” institutions, such as intelligence agencies or the police. To work alongside or within large organizations, Magid makes use of institutional quirks, systemic loopholes that allow her to make contact with people “on the inside.” Her work tends to be characterized by the dynamics of seduction, the resulting narratives often taking the form of a love story. It is typical of Magid’s practice that she follows the rules of engagement with an institution to the letter – sometimes to the point of absurdity. She has had solo exhibitions at institutions around the world including Tate Modern, London; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Berkeley Museum of Art, California; Gagosian Gallery, New York; and the Security and Intelligence Agency of the Netherlands. She lives in Brooklyn.

Pamela B. Green is the director of<a href="https://benaturalthemovie.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché</a>, which is now in select theaters through Zeitgeist Films and Kino Lorber. In 2005, Green founded PIC, an entertainment and motion design boutique based in Los Angeles, California. Nominated for an Emmy for the documentary Bhutto, Green has produced main titles, created and advised on internal story sequences and marketing campaigns for films such as the Bourne series, Fast and Furious, The Muppets, Rings and several Marvel comic-book franchises. She has also worked on films such as The Cabin the Woods and The Kingdom. For television and streaming, she has created titles for Supergirl, The Flash and Quantico among many others. She lives in Los Angeles.

Penny Lane has been making award-winning, innovative nonfiction films for more than a decade. Her latest documentary,&nbsp;Hail Satan?, about the The Satanic Temple, premiered at Sundance and is being released in select theaters by Magnolia from April 19.&nbsp;Her previous documentary features include&nbsp;The Pain of Others (2018),&nbsp;Nuts! (2016) and&nbsp;Our Nixon (2013). She&nbsp;was named one of Filmmaker magazine&#8217;s &#8220;25 New Faces of Independent Film&#8221; in 2012.&nbsp;Lane is currently an associate professor in the Department of Art and Art History at Colgate University, where she lives in a very old house and shows movies in her barn. And yes, Penny Lane is her real name.

Emma Tammi is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles. The Wind, a supernatural western horror film which is in theaters now through IFC Midnight, is her first narrative feature as director. Tammi is the Co-Founder of Mind Hive Films and her most recent documentary films include Election Day (EPIX / Blumhouse) and Fair Chase (iTunes/Amazon). Born and raised in New York City, and the daughter of two actors, she grew up in the theatre world. Tammi has worked under a handful of great directors, including Robert Altman, Mel Brooks and Susan Stroman. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University.

Laura Farber is a documentary filmmaker best known for her ability to draw inspiration from the field as a freelance producer in Chicago. Her production experience spans a variety of networks, including MSNBC, TLC, The Weather Channel, Discovery Channel, Discovery Health, and History. In 2012, Farber launched Lioness Productions, where she is committed to telling character-driven stories on topics she’s passionate about. We Are Columbine is the first feature documentary by Lioness Productions and Farber&#8217;s feature documentary directorial debut. Adam Gussow is the subject of the documentary Satan &amp; Adam, directed by V. Scott Balcerek, which is in select theaters from April 12 through Cargo Film &amp; Releasing. Gussow, a professor of English and Southern Studies at the University of Mississippi, is the author of Mister Satan&#8217;s Apprentice: A Blues Memoir (1998) and Beyond the Crossroads: The Devil and the Blues Tradition (2017).

Michelle Memran is a filmmaker, writer, and visual artist. As a journalist in NYC, she has written for The New York Times, Newsweek, Vanity Fair, and American Theatre magazine. Memran’s highly acclaimed debut feature documentary on playwright Maria Irene Fornes, <a href="https://www.therestimakeup.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.therestimakeup.com/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1626267442316000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG0I6GQcoB9MC_ErN5Ug_fCzNFPmQ">The Rest I Make Up</a>, premiered at MoMA’s Doc Fortnight Series and was called one of &#8220;The Best Movies of 2018” by The New Yorker&#8216;s Richard Brody. As a visual artist, her oil pastel portraits have been commissioned by The New York Times Book Review, as well as by various theatrical and film productions.

Pat McGee is an award-winning showrunner and director in both film and television. His latest film, <a href="https://www.vicetv.com/en_us/video/bernie-blackout-trailer/5eb03836214bfc544c1ddf95" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bernie Blackout: The Revolution Will Not Be Televised</a>, premieres in VICE&#8217;s &#8220;VICE Versa&#8221; series on May 13. McGee’s feature documentary American Relapse, which he directed with Adam Linkenhelt, won awards at film festivals across the country and was released by Gravitas Ventures. In 2018, Viceland Network picked up McGee&#8217;s original series, Dopesick Nation, a docudrama about the opioid epidemic in Florida. Simultaneous to producing Dopesick Nation, Pat executive produced and directed the YouTube Original feature documentary The Deported, set to premiere in the spring of 2019. In 2017, he sold a feature documentary film to National Geographic Channel, World of Sound, about retinitis pigmentosa, while wrapping up the second season of Pat McGee Pictures’ 24 to Life, which aired on Lifetime, LMN and A&amp;E. Pat’s focus has been on producing “stories worth telling.” He’s grateful for all those who let him into their world to assist in telling their story. He keeps pushing to give a voice to the voiceless, while respecting the art of storytelling.

Mark Cousins is a Northern Irish filmmaker and writer who lives in Edinburgh. His latest film, The Eyes of Orson Welles, is in theaters through Janus Films from March 15. His work as a director includes The Story of Film: An Odyssey, an epic 15-hour documentary which won a Peabody Award and the Stanley Kubrick Award; A Story of Children and Film, a feature doc which world premiered in Cannes; I Am Belfast, a lyrical essay film about his home town; and his fiction debut Stockholm My Love, a grief musical starring and with music by Neneh Cherry. His latest book, The Story of Looking, was published in the UK last year by Canongate.

<a href="https://www.kinolorber.com/film/thegospelofeureka" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Gospel of Eureka</a> (out February 8), October Country, Off Label and the shorts Rougarouing, Marseilles and most recently Peace in the Valley for Field of Vision. Alongside filmmaking he has published fiction, non-fiction, and reviews including a contribution to the LAMBDA Award-winning anthology Portland Queer. His recent photographic work, The Vibrancy is Killing Me, was on exhibition in Munich, Germany in 2015. Paige Goldberg Tolmach is the director and producer of the documentary <a href="https://www.whathauntsusfilm.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">What Haunts Us</a>, about the dark secret – and systemic cover up – that endured for decades at her seemingly perfect high school. The film premiered at the Boston Film Festival in 2017 and aired on Starz earlier this year. A leading expert on environmental toxins and their effects on children, Tolmach founded The Little Seed in 2007, an eco-conscious store in Los Angeles that helped raise awareness about the dangers of toxic chemicals in our homes. The Little Seed partnered with Seventh Generation in 2009 to help launch their “Million Baby Crawl,” which demanded that Congress change federal laws to keep toxic chemicals out of our homes, and in 2010, she and her partner collaborated with Target to bring The Little Seed’s eco sensibility and eco awareness to the masses.
