Talkhouse

The bright-blazing new creative project of Lizzie Killian (previously of The Glowing Stars and Sputterdoll), Teens in Trouble refracts the sounds of punk, garage, and dream-pop through a prism of memory, melding past and present with the kind of sun-dappled clarity that can only come from hindsight. Armed with huge guitars, catchy hooks, and disarmingly direct lyricism, Teens in Trouble plays brisk punk-rock that nods to the fuzzed-out, surf-influenced sounds of ‘90s alt-rock idols Weezer and Pixies and ‘60s garage-rock, but is equally informed by Killian’s own years of youth in revolt.

No One Knows How to Do It Like Brainiac

Shallowhalo is the indie electronic project of NYC artist Allyson Camitta. Originally launched as a duo with Ezra Tenenbaum in 2021, Shallowhalo quickly earned a reputation for glistening, infectious synth-pop that ran the emotional gamut — music that could deliver moments of haunting introspection alongside floor-filling thrills. Their 2022 debut No Fun, featuring collaborators like Harrison Patrick Smith (The Dare), Sam Glick, and May Rio, paved the way for 2024’s buzzy Connection EP (Fools’ Gold). “You Are My Religion Now (feat. Swordes)” — a tongue-in-cheek declaration of total obsession, powered by a massive arpeggiated bassline and Camitta’s celestial vocal — marked a breakthrough for the group.
After a co-headlined tour with The Dare, shows with artists like Alice Glass, Cherry Glazerr, and Liam Benzvi, and the rise of We Take Manhattan — Camitta’s downtown DJ party, now a hub for the indie sleaze adjacent scene — Shallowhalo’s kicking off a bold new chapter: this time, as Camitta’s solo project. Stepping fully into the spotlight as a frontwoman, she exudes bratty star power and joyful pop maximalism in new music filled with strobe-lit breakdowns and shout-along hooks. The forthcoming single “Racecar,” featuring producer Blush (Alex Tepper), mixed by Ivan Berko (Fcukers), and with a stunning video from director Persia Beheshti, is equal parts glam and grit — a noisy, brash glitter gun of a track, one that revels in the danger and delight of going after everything you tell yourself you want. The result is louder, rawer, and more intensely personal than ever before, the sound of Camitta fully taking the wheel.

Their second album (and Secretly Canadian debut) Every Bad glistens with grand, sweeping ambition. 80s-esque synths shine against Margolin’s urgent vocals – with all the rawness of early Karen O, and influences as disparate as Charli XCX and The Cranberries. Oscillating between desperation, resignation, and, crucially, hope, Porridge Radio’s unmistakable take on pop music is like a jewelry box twinkle just out of kilter.
