James Lee Hernandez is a multi-Emmy® and PGA Award-nominated filmmaker and critically acclaimed podcaster who with his creative partner Brian Lazarte wrote, direct, and executive produced the Apple TV+ original documentary series The Big Conn, which is now available to stream. Hernandez and Lazarte recently directed, wrote, and edited the five-time Emmy® nominated HBO original documentary series McMillion$ (Sundance 2020), and their upcoming project, The Jet, another Apple TV+ original documentary series, is forthcoming later this year. Hernandez is a founding partner of FunMeter, a TV &amp; Film production company specializing in stranger-than-fiction scripted and non-scripted content. Hernandez is a self-taught filmmaker who began his career in the industry writing, editing, and directing content for Hulu, Hallmark, and other major, national brands.
Brian Lazarte is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and editor whose new four-part Apple TV+ original documentary series made with James Lee Hernandez, The Big Conn is now available to stream. His credits include a variety of award-winning documentaries and series, most notably McMillion$ for HBO, which he wrote, directed, executive produced, and edited alongside James Lee Hernandez. Additional notable credits include Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D, HBO&#8217;s Emmy award-winning Sonic Highways, Fed Up, ESPN&#8217;s Emmy award-winning “30 for 30” Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau, The Price of Free (Grand Jury Prize, Sundance 2018), and Showtime&#8217;s Time of Death, which won IDA&#8217;s Best Limited Series in 2014. A recipient of the Panavision New Filmmaker grant, he is a founding partner with Hernandez of FunMeter, a TV and film production company specializing in stranger-than-fiction scripted and non-scripted content. Dave Hill&nbsp;is a comedian, writer, musician, and highly boneable public figure. He is the author of the book&nbsp;Tasteful Nudes&nbsp;(St. Martin&#8217;s Press, 2012), host of&nbsp;The Goddamn Dave Hill Show&nbsp;on New Jersey&#8217;s WFMU-91.1, frequent contributor to&nbsp;This American Life&nbsp;and singer-guitar player for the power-pop band Valley Lodge. His new comedy album Let Me Turn You On&nbsp;is <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/let-me-turn-you-on/id992705195" target="_blank">available now</a>, as is his second collection of essays, Dave Hill Doesn&#8217;t Live Here Anymore (Penguin/Blue Rider Press).&nbsp;Dave also smells incredible and can play sweet guitar solos without even really trying. It’s the place he married the light in his life, Natalie Prass, and titling the record after it is an attempt at bottling the euphoria of his wedding day. The record isn’t just about the joy that comes from a loving existence blossoming out of a new relationship, it’s also about the hard work that it takes to get to that place. The majority of his time has been behind a drum set, spending the last decade rounding out the industrious outfit Dr. Dog, and as of late, touring as a newlywed alongside his wife.

Carlos Dengler was a founding member of the band Interpol. Carlos played bass and keyboards with Interpol throughout the ’00s, recording four records and touring the world three times. In 2010, Carlos began a hiatus from the music industry to pursue theatre training, garnering his MFA from NYU Grad Acting in 2015. He appeared recently as a guest musician for the 8G Band, the house band for Late Night with Seth Meyers. Carlos‘ one-man show, Homo Sapiens Interruptus, will be participating in this year’s New York International Fringe Festival in August. As the frontman of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Kip Berman wrote songs about the thrills and ills of young adult life with the care and concern of a cool older sibling. The long-standing New York City indiepop group disbanded soon after releasing their final record, The Echo of Pleasure (2017), and Berman found himself at a creative crossroads. He wanted to keep making music, but the themes and sounds he was interested in had shifted; it felt time for a course correction.
Enter Tethers, Berman’s first solo record as The Natvral, which finds him coming to terms with the changes in his own life by observing those transformations in the people he’s known — a self-portrait in relief. In the time between making his last record with his former band, Berman’s life and location have shifted dramatically, as he welcomed a daughter, then a son, and moved from Brooklyn to Princeton. With his new identity as a parent came a crucial shift in how he approached music. Gone were the months in a cramped tour van and late nights rehearsing with his band in a windowless warehouse space. In its place were amorphous, suburban afternoons playing whimsical songs to two young children, while writing music for himself after their bedtime.
But in this time away from the life of a touring artist, Berman discovered an unvarnished, broken folk rock sound — a marked departure from his previous work.
