Yoni Wolf and Miles Joris-Peyrafitte Talk Mental Health and Their Creative Processes

When Remember Sports recorded Sunchokes in 2014 while Carmen Perry (vocals, guitar), Catherine Dwyer (guitar), Benji Dossetter (drums) and James Karlin (bass) attended Kenyon College in Gambier, OH, they had no intention of pursuing music seriously. It was recorded with the wide-eyed optimism of making a record for the sake of it. To create something they could share with their friends. To make something they could simply look back on.
The band – then called Sports – started in 2012, coming up through the pocket of their folk and DIY punk scene. Quietly released on Bandcamp, Sunchokes gained traction through word of mouth and social media. Now, five years later, following the departure of Dossetter and Karlin and addition of Jack Washburn (guitar) and Connor Perry (drums), Sunchokes has been remastered – by band friend Lucas Knapp – for a special anniversary release, on vinyl and CD for the first time ever. The remastered album also includes eight bonus songs including a few original demos and Addie Pray (Carmen&#8217;s solo project) versions of the songs. A twenty page memory book, featuring playlists, photos and more, will also accompany the release.

<div>Jesca Hoop is a California-born, UK-based songwriter who released her fifth studio album, Stonechild, in July. She has written songs with Sam Beam (Iron and Wine), collaborated with Lucius and This is the Kit on her latest release, and worked with luminaries including Peter Gabriel, Stewart Copeland, and Tom Waits. With her roots in folk and Americana, Hoop continually pushes at the boundaries of what is possible within those traditions, creating songs that twist and turn, constantly surprising, and delightful and disturbing in equal measures.</div>

<div dir="ltr">Jlin, one of the most prominent electronic producers of the current generation, first appeared on Planet Mu’s second Bangs &amp; Works compilation, which had a huge impact on electronic/club music. Though she is known for bringing footwork to a wider audience, Jlin doesn’t consider herself a footwork artist. Hailing from Gary, Indiana, a place close yet distant enough from Chicago to allow her to develop a different perspective on the genre, she has morphed its sounds into something entirely new. Released in 2015, her debut album Dark Energy&#8216;s innovative sound propelled it to the top of many of the year’s Best Of lists. Jlin’s sophomore album Black Origami was recently released to even greater critical acclaim and attention. In 2017, Jlin also composed the music for a major new dance work by Wayne McGregor, one of the UK’s best known choreographers.</div>
