Talkhouse

Lead vocalist Matthew Tillwick and guitarist Noah Kohll hailed from Omaha, Nebraska before landing in Brooklyn, New York, where they formed Navy Gangs with Wilson Keithline on bass, and Eric Carney on drums. This year, the four-piece are set to release their debut full-length, Poach, on Modern Sky USA. Mixed and mastered by Delicate Steve, an early champion of the band, the band’s first offering exists in the in-between spaces and places that make up your life.

Hear First: Navy Gangs’ Poach

Grim Streaker&#8216;s sound is a mix of the snotty, mid-tempo punk of late &#8217;70s New York and London and the fast, abrasive hardcore that emerged in LA and DC in the early &#8217;80s, topped off with a hint of angular, moody post-punk. Singer Amelia Bushell, guitarists Dan Peskin and Micah Weisberg, bassist Bill Dvorak, and drummer Piyal Basu formed the band in late 2016. Since then, the group has been making a name for itself in the venues and DIY spaces of Brooklyn, with live shows quickly becoming known for Bushell&#8217;s wild stage antics.
January 2017 saw the release of Grim Streaker&#8217;s first single, &#8220;Guts,&#8221;  produced by Mike Kutchman (Parquet Courts, Sharon Van Etten). They followed it with the release of their debut EP, Girl Minority, in July 2017. An upcoming debut LP, also produced by Kutchman, is nearing completion.

Hamilton Leithauser lives with his wife and two baby girls in New York City. <div>Stoner Control is an alternative rock band based out of Portland, Oregon. They grew out of a temporary side-project to become a powerhouse trio that has been making music since 2013. Taking inspiration from the rich sonic history of the Pacific Northwest, Stoner Control fuses a high-energy pop-punk sound with the unfiltered, lo-fi aesthetic of Portland&#8217;s thriving underground indie rock scene. Lead singer and guitarist Charley Williams infuses his lyrics with an honesty that is both playful and raw, creating driving melodies that echo the Thermals, Built to Spill, Superchunk, and Death Cab for Cutie.</div>

Tim Kinsella is the frontman of Joan of Arc. He&#8217;s also the author of two novels, Let Go and Go On and On (2014, Curbside Splendor) and The Karaoke Singer’s Guide to Self-Defense (2011, Featherproof Books) and one book of non-fiction All Over and Over (2015, Joyful Noise/Featherproof Books). In 2014 he became the publisher and editor at Featherproof Books.

Cornelia Murr was born in London and resides in California as a dual citizen, but spent much of her childhood moving through the United States, from Colorado to Massachusetts, California to New York City and upstate New York. Working with producer Jim James of My Morning Jacket on her debut album Lake Tear of the Clouds, Murr conjures a hazy blend of folk and cosmic soul music, and taps into the bucolic spirit of the Hudson Valley.

Irmin Schmidt is a keyboardist, composer and founding member of the group Can. He has scored more than forty soundtracks and written an opera, Gormenghast, based on the novels by Mervyn Peake. In 2015, he was made a Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He lives in southern France.

Shannon Shaw, the daughter of a fire-fighting father and a mother who worked nearly half of her life as a nurse at Napa State, grew up out in the country, avoiding jocks and cops who had nothing better to do than harass local misfits. In high school, Shaw got a bass guitar, the glittery Danelectro she still plays today, as a gift from a boyfriend. Not able to envision herself as a “real” musician at the time, Shaw didn’t actually start playing her bass until about ten years later in response to a particularly rough break up that left her alone in the East Bay and desperate for an outlet. She has since become an expert at examining the detritus of love gone wrong with vocal stylings rivaling the ‘60s girl groups and Dion getting his teeth kicked out.

<a href="https://peachkellipop.bandcamp.com/">Peach Kelli Pop </a>are back with Gentle Leader, the band’s fourth full-length album and first in three years, following close on the tails of the band’s recent EP, Which Witch, their first with renowned Canadian indie pop label Mint Records. Peach Kelli Pop will be touring extensively in support of Gentle Leader and the Which Witch EP, including time in Japan in May, followed by a full tour of North America in the summer and Europe later in the year.
