Leah Warshawski specializes in producing and directing documentaries, television, commercials, corporate videos, non-profit and brand videos around the globe. Her career in film began in Hawai’i for shows including Lost and Baywatch. Leah&#8217;s first feature doc, Finding Hillywood, took place in Rwanda and won six awards after its Seattle International Film Festival premiere in 2013. Her second feature doc, Big Sonia (2016), won 22 awards, screened for Congress, qualified for an Academy Award, and had a three-year run on PBS. Last year, Leah launched a nationwide screening and impact tour for her award-winning short film, Uncle Bully’s Surf Skool (2023), filmed in Lahaina before, during and after the devastating wildfires. Leah also consults with filmmakers about audience engagement, distribution and social impact. Her personal journey is the inspiration for her TedX Talk called <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkAMHQhabkU" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;How Do You Cope with the Trauma You Didn’t Experience?&#8221;</a> and the subject of a chapter she wrote for Soul Success, a #1 best-selling book on Amazon. She is currently based between Seattle, Idaho and Maui.

Finding the Thread and Repairing the Past

Jonathan Jakubowicz is the director, writer and producer of Resistance, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Ed Harris, Clémence Poésy and Edgar Ramírez, which is out March 27 through IFC Films. It tells the story of how Marcel Mangel, an aspiring Jewish actor later known as Marcel Marceau, joined the French Resistance to save the lives of thousands of children orphaned at the hands of the Nazis. Jakubowicz is Venezuela&#8217;s most celebrated filmmaker and writer, and in 2005 his debut feature Secuestro Express, became Venezuela’s highest-grossing film, eclipsing such movies as Titanic. His second feature, Hands of Stone (2016), about the relationship between Panamanian boxer Roberto Durán (Edgar Ramírez) and his trainer Ray Arcel (Robert De Niro) premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and released theatrically worldwide. In November 2016, Jakubowicz published his first novel, Las Aventuras de Juan Planchard, which immediately became a best-seller in the Spanish language market and it is on its way to become the highest selling book of all time for a Venezuelan author. Jakubowicz is of Polish Jewish descent. He has a BA in Communications from the Universidad Central de Venezuela.

Wes Tooke is the writer of <a href="https://midway.movie/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Midway</a>, out November 8. He previously served as a writer/executive producer on USA Network’s drama Colony and co-executive producer of Amazon’s comedy Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and he currently has multiple film and television projects in development. In addition to his work in Hollywood, Tooke is also the author of Ballpark Blues (Doubleday, 2003) and two young adult novels, Lucky (Simon &amp; Schuster, 2010) and King of the Mound (Simon &amp; Schuster, 2012). Ballpark Blues earned a Kirkus starred review and both of the young adult novels were Junior Library Guild selections.

Alison Klayman is the director of The Brink, a verité documentary about Steve Bannon, which is in select theaters through Magnolia Pictures from March 29. Klayman&#8217;s directorial debut Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry, about the Chinese artist and activist, premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival where it was awarded a US Documentary Special Jury Prize for Spirit of Defiance. The film was released theatrically around the globe and shortlisted for the Academy Award. Her other films include The 100 Years Show (theatrical run at Film Forum) about Cuban-American artist Carmen Herrera, the Netflix Original Take Your Pills (SXSW 2018) and the upcoming short Flower Punk, about Japanese artist Azuma Makoto. She also executive produced the award-winning documentaries Hooligan Sparrow and On Her Shoulders.

Serena Dykman is a New York–based filmmaker and self-described “culture-clasher” who uses storytelling to connect people through humor, heart, and humanity. A proud third-culture kid, she was born in Paris and raised across Brussels, the French Antilles, London, and New York. A graduate from NYU&#8217;s Tisch School of the Arts, she has made films which range from comedy to drama and documentary, and earned more than 25 awards, including a Webby Award and a Humanitas Prize nomation. At just 23, Serena directed her debut feature documentary, <a href="https://www.nanafilm.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nana</a>, about her grandmother’s survival of Auschwitz. The film was theatrically released by First Run Features and led her to speak internationally at institutions such as the European Commission and Amnesty International. She recently completed three films Babka, At See and M.U.B., and is developing several scripted and unscripted projects. She works between New York, Los Angeles, Europe, and wherever a good story takes her.
