Todd Chandler is a filmmaker, artist, and educator. His latest work, the documentary <a href="http://grasshopperfilm.com/film/bulletproof/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bulletproof</a>, is in theaters now through Grasshopper Film and also available to rent on <a href="https://projectr.tv/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://projectr.tv/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1635360269138000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHlQTbovGJHs2pk391nmX9BqRic2Q">Projectr.tv</a>. His work has been featured at True/False, IDFA, Doclisboa, the Hammer Museum, Brooklyn Museum, and Mass MoCA. His projects have been supported by Creative Capital, Field of Vision, Sundance Institute, International Documentary Association, Doc Society, and ITVS, among others. His first feature film, Flood Tide, premiered at the Torino Film Festival, followed by an extensive tour of museums, universities, backyards, rock clubs, and assorted DIY spaces, often with a live score. His short film A Debtors’ Prison premiered at Camden International Film Festival and was broadcast on PBS’ POV. He was one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2019, a fellow at the Sundance Non-Fiction Director’s Residency, and a Points North Fellow.

“At Once Frightening, Violent, Intoxicating, Fragile and Unbearably Tender”: On Bulletproof and Masculinity

Kim A. Snyder’s most recent feature documentary, <a href="https://uskidsfilm.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Us Kids</a>, premiered in the U.S. Documentary Competition at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and is in theaters and on PVOD on May 14. Prior, she directed the Peabody award-winning documentary Newtown, which premiered in the US Competition at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and was theatrically released, followed by a national broadcast on PBS’s Independent Lens and Netflix. Her most recent short, the Netflix Original Lessons from a School Shooting: Notes from Dunblane, premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and is now streaming in 196 countries. Snyder’s prior works include the feature documentary, Welcome to Shelbyville, nationally broadcast on PBS’s Independent Lens in 2011, and over a dozen short documentaries. Kim’s award-winning directorial debut feature documentary, I Remember Me, was theatrically distributed by Zeitgeist Films. In 1994, she associate-produced the Academy Award-winning short film Trevor. A Nation of Traumatized Youth: From Newtown to Parkland and Beyond

Israel Nash’s new album, Topaz, was recorded over the course of about a year in the Quonset hut studio he built about 600 feet from his house in the Texas Hill Country. While musician friends from nearby Austin contributed to the project, Topaz marks the first album Nash has recorded mostly on his own, both taking his time and relishing his newfound access to immediacy, punching the red button moments after an idea hit. The resulting Topaz is a triumphant rock-and-roll experiment, full of fat horns, gospel choruses, swagger, hope, and pain. The meaty rock foundation with touches of psychedelia and skylark folk that fans have come to love are still here, now with a soulful heft that nods to Muscle Shoals and Memphis. Political and personal, Topaz is moody and vast, cohesive and compelling.
