Actress, screenwriter and director Julie Delpy is currently starring opposite Richard E. Grant and Daryl McCormack in the new thriller <a href="https://bleeckerstreetmedia.com/the-lesson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Lesson</a>, in theaters from July 7. In 2012, Delpy wrote, directed and starred in 2 Days in New York starring Chris Rock and herself, a follow up to her critically acclaimed 2007 film, 2 Days in Paris. As a writer, Delpy’s co-wrote Before Sunset and Before Midnight which landed her two Oscar nominations and multiple wins for best screenplay. Before Midnight has earned Julie a Golden Globe and Spirit award nomination for best actress. Since the age of 14, Delpy has worked with some of the world’s most esteemed directors, including Jean-Luc Godard for Detective, Agneiszka Holland for Europa Europa, Krzysztof Kieslowski for the trilogy Trois Couleurs, and Jim Jarmusch for Broken Flowers. In 2009 Delpy presented The Countess at the Berlinale, which Delpy wrote and directed. She won the director’s prize at San Sebastian film festival for her film Skylab in 2011. Lolo, a French comedy blockbuster was presented at TIFF in 2016, so was her feature My Zoe in 2019. In 2021, Delpy presented the series On The Verge on Canal+ and Netflix.

Irene Lusztig is a feminist filmmaker, archival researcher, educator, and amateur seamstress. Her debut film, Reconstruction (2001), the feature-length archival film essay The Motherhood Archives (2013), and the performative documentary <a href="https://yoursinsisterhood.net/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Yours in Sisterhood</a> (2018). Her newest feature length work, <a href="https://richlandfilm.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Richland</a>, takes place in and around the Eastern Washington nuclear company town that produced the Nagasaki bomb plutonium and premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2023. She has been awarded fellowships from the Guggenheim (2021), the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, the Fulbright, two MacDowell fellowships, the Flaherty Film Seminar, and the Rydell Visual Arts Fellowship. She teaches filmmaking at UC Santa Cruz where she is Professor of Film and Digital Media.

Ethan Suplee can currently be seen in the new thriller God is a Bullet, opposite Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Maika Monroe and Jamie Foxx. He recently costarred in Damien Chazelle’s Babylon opposite Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, opposite Channing Tatum in the hit dramedy Dog, and starred in Craig Zobel’s dystopian thriller The Hunt, opposite Hilary Swank. Previously, he appeared Darren Aronofsky’s The Fountain, Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, Tony Kaye’s American History X, Ted Demme’s Blow, and Anthony Minghella’s Cold Mountain and Kevin Smith’s Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma. He had his breakout role in Remember The Titans opposite Denzel Washington. Ethan landed his first TV role at the age of 16 on the hit series Boy Meets World, went on to star opposite Jason Lee in the hit comedy My Name is Earl and recently appeared on Good Girls opposite Christina Hendricks, in a major arc on the final season of Santa Clarita Diet, and memorably co-starred on David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return. He also continues to host his popular American Glutton podcast.

Robert Schwartzman is a filmmaker and accomplished musician. He formed the band Rooney in 1999 and signed with Interscope/Geffen records in 2002. He studied film at the Oxford Media School and has acted in multiple films, including The Princess Diaries and The Virgin Suicides. He made his directorial debut in 2016 with the drama Dreamland, which he also produced, co-wrote and scored, and followed it up with the comedies The Unicorn (2018), starring Lauren Lapkus and Nicholas Rutherford, and The Argument (2020), starring Maggie Q and Danny Pudi. He has two new films that have premiered in 2023: Hung Up on a Dream: The Zombies Documentary, about the seminal English rock band, and The Good Half, a comedy drama starring Nick Jonas, Brittany Snow, David Arquette.

Jamie Sisley is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker who wrote and directed Stay Awake, a narrative feature film starring Chrissy Metz, Wyatt Oleff and Fin Argus which is out in theaters from May 19. Stay Awake had its world premiere at the 2022 Berlin Film Festival, where it won the AG Kino Gilde Auteur Award and was Honorable Mention for the Crystal Bear. Jamie received an Emmy Nomination for his feature documentary, Farewell Ferris Wheel, which also won the Creative Promise Award from the Tribeca Film Institute, received an Imagen nomination for the positive portrayal of Latinos in entertainment, and was nationally broadcast on PBS and Netflix. Visionary singer and music maker Xenia Rubinos dips in and out of genre and structure to create movingly powerful songs with her O.G. signature sound. Xenia’s powerhouse vocals are at the center of her music which grows from a wide range of influences from R&amp;B to Hip-Hop to jazz all delivered with a soulful punk aura. Pitchfork lauded the radiant singer as “a unique new pop personality” while a profile in The New Yorker described her work as “rhythmically fierce, vocally generous music that slips through the net of any known genre.” Her record, Black Terry Cat, is out now.

NOIA and Xenia Rubinos Talk Finding Inspiration in Family, Grief, and More

Toronto&#8217;s Bernice have always been subject to their own distinct rhythms. Releasing their first album in 2011 then waiting seven years for the release of their sophomore LP, and another four until the release of their 2021 album Eau De Bonjourno, each release from the Robin Dann-led band feels like a missive from another world, and one that arrives precisely when it was supposed to, independent of any external pressures or expectations. Despite their periodic disappearances, Bernice&#8217;s albums have reliably provoked waves of startled excitement from both the press and their fellow musicians, with high praise coming from outlets like Pitchfork, NPR, Stereogum and the New York Times, and legendary artists like Beverly Glenn-Copeland, who described himself as &#8220;a down on my knees fan&#8221; of the band, saying &#8220;the vision is extraordinary and it&#8217;s musically so exciting.&#8221;
In April, Bernice released their fourth LP Cruisin&#8217; on Telephone Explosion Records.

U.S. Girls and Bernice Talk How to Tour With Twin Babies, and More

Wila Frank was raised on a farm in a rural bohemian community near the Oregon coast, where she formed a passion for classical and folk music. At 18, she moved to Nashville to record and tour with indie-folk duo Paper Wings and Civil Wars alum Joy Williams. Now 24, her debut album Black Cloud, out May 12 via Tone Tree Music, was inspired by artists like PJ Harvey and Anna Calvi just as much as the brooding soundscapes of Massive Attack and Radiohead. Though just eight tracks, the album is a resounding statement of intent, an introduction to a fully-formed voice and perspective that boasts a freewheeling ability to jump between genres and textures.

Monica Bellucci is currently starring in the comedy thriller <a href="https://bleeckerstreetmedia.com/mafia-mamma" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mafia Mamma</a>, opposite Toni Colette, out now in theaters. Kyra Elise Gardner’s debut feature, the documentary <a href="https://www.screambox.com/details/1000000009739/Living-with-Chucky" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Living with Chucky</a>, is out now on the horror streaming service Screambox and all major digital platforms in the US and Canada. With a dad in special effects makeup, blood and guts became a normality for Kyra at a young age. Combat nursing was her first goal, but she soon discovered that real blood is way grosser than the fake stuff. She&#8217;s been pursuing a career in directing since attending Florida State&#8217;s film program and plans on creating quirky fantastical films from the lore of her unconventional childhood.

Melora Hardin stars opposite Dianna Agron in the forthcoming horror movie Clock, out April 28 on Hulu. She is best known for playing Jan Levinson on The Office and was Emmy nominated for her recurring role of Tammy Cashman on Transparent. She’s also recently starred in The Bold Type, had a recurring role on A Million Little Things and competed on Dancing With The Stars. Her film credits include Hannah Montana: The Movie, 17 Again, Thank You for Smoking, Absolute Power and 27 Dresses. She made her directorial debut in 2009 with the independent feature You, and also directed Paula Cole’s music video for the 20th anniversary of “Where Have All The Cowboys Gone” and a 2019 episode of The Bold Type that was nominated for a 2020 Women’s Image Award. Alison Star Locke moved a lot as a kid with her single mother, growing up mainly in San Antonio and Oakland. She earned a B.F.A. in Filmic Writing from USC, where she won the Jack Nicholson Screenwriting Award. She began her writing career as a story producer for reality TV and has written, directed and produced numerous shorts. Her favorite, Shhhhhhh&#8230;, was laureled-up by the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Denver Film Festival. Her script The Projectionist won second place at Slamdance in the Horror/Thriller category. Her scripts have placed in numerous contests, including the BloodList, Nicholls, Screamfest, Women in Horror Film Festival, Scriptapalooza and Fright Night. After staying home to advocate and care for her daughter, Bethany, who was diagnosed with autism, she returned to work this year to make The Apology, her first feature as a writer-director, starring Anna Gunn, Linus Roache and Janeane Garofalo. She lives with her husband and daughter in the Los Angeles area.
