Kaouther Ben Hania constantly explores the boundaries between fiction and documentary; her sixth film,<a href="https://www.thevoiceofhindrajabfilm.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> The Voice of Hind Rajab</a>, is now in theaters. As a filmmaker, she constantly explores the boundaries between fiction and documentary. Her previous film, Four Daughters, was nominated for the Best Documentary Academy Awards 2024, after being presented in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival. The film received numerous prestigious awards and was sold in over 40 territories. Her 2021 film, The Man Who Sold His Skin, was also nominated at the Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film in 2021, representing Tunisia. All her other films have premiered at prestigious festivals including: Cannes, Venice, AFI, Los Angeles, Locarno, IDFA, Hot Docs Toronto. (Photo by Ammar Abd Rabbo.)

Cornelia Murr was born in London and resides in California as a dual citizen, but spent much of her childhood moving through the United States, from Colorado to Massachusetts, California to New York City and upstate New York. Working with producer Jim James of My Morning Jacket on her debut album Lake Tear of the Clouds, Murr conjures a hazy blend of folk and cosmic soul music, and taps into the bucolic spirit of the Hudson Valley.

Bi Gan’s latest film, <a href="https://www.janusfilms.com/films/2293" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Resurrection</a>, premiered in competition at Cannes, where it won the Prix Spécial, and is in theaters now through Janus Films. Born in June 1989 in Kaili, China, Bi Gan made his feature debut with Kaili Blues (2015), which was selected in 70 festivals, and received the Best Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Locarno Festival and the prestigious “Best New Director Award” at the Golden Horse Awards. In 2018, his second feature film, Long Day&#8217;s Journey Into Night, a monumental fresco in 3D, premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews. Bi Gan directed an ambitious short film in 2022 called A Short Story, told through the eyes of a cat.

Hailey Benton Gates is a filmmaker based in New York City whose Sundance-winning debut feature as writer-director, Atropia, starring Alia Shawkat and Callum Turner, is <a href="https://www.ifccenter.com/films/atropia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in theaters now</a>. Her award-winning short film from which Atropia grew, Shako Mako, starring Alia Shawkat, premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival. As an occasional actress, Hailey has appeared in David Lynch’s acclaimed reboot Twin Peaks: The Return, the Safdie brothers’ Uncut Gems, Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme and Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers. She received her BFA from NYU in Experimental Theater and Playwriting and was an editor at The Paris Review. For two seasons, she was the host and producer of the award-winning docuseries States of Undress for Vice TV, which saw Gates travel the globe, often to conflict zones, to explore the intersection of fashion, politics, and women’s rights. She received the Gracie Award by the Alliance for Women in Media for Best Non-fiction Series as well as the Front Page Award for Outstanding Reporting in Television.
