When Remember Sports recorded Sunchokes in 2014 while Carmen Perry (vocals, guitar), Catherine Dwyer (guitar), Benji Dossetter (drums) and James Karlin (bass) attended Kenyon College in Gambier, OH, they had no intention of pursuing music seriously. It was recorded with the wide-eyed optimism of making a record for the sake of it. To create something they could share with their friends. To make something they could simply look back on.
The band – then called Sports – started in 2012, coming up through the pocket of their folk and DIY punk scene. Quietly released on Bandcamp, Sunchokes gained traction through word of mouth and social media. Now, five years later, following the departure of Dossetter and Karlin and addition of Jack Washburn (guitar) and Connor Perry (drums), Sunchokes has been remastered – by band friend Lucas Knapp – for a special anniversary release, on vinyl and CD for the first time ever. The remastered album also includes eight bonus songs including a few original demos and Addie Pray (Carmen&#8217;s solo project) versions of the songs. A twenty page memory book, featuring playlists, photos and more, will also accompany the release.

Maps (born James Chapman) is a Mercury Prize-nominated musician and producer who hails from Northampton, England. In 2019, he released his fourth studio album, the lush and soaring Colours. Reflect. Time. Loss. With this latest work, Maps stepped out from his home studio in the English countryside with the intention of making his new record a more collaborative endeavor. By recruiting the Belgian chamber ensemble Echo Collective — as well as a number of guest percussionists and vocalists — Colours. Reflect. Time. Loss. represents a creative reinvention for Maps that features a beautiful array of stunning, immersive and impressionistic songs.

Alt-rock godfather and Chainsaw Kittens frontman, Tyson Meade, is back yet again with another fabulous new album, Robbing the Nuclear Family. Like his critically-acclaimed 2014 solo release Tomorrow in Progress, which included fantastic contributions from Smashing Pumpkins’ Jimmy Chamberlin, Other Lives’ Jesse Tabish, and The Flaming Lips’ Derek Brown, Robbing features contributions from elder statesmen of the Beijing rock scene PK 14, Shanghai violinist Haffijy, The Flaming Lips’ Matt Duckworth, and Grammy-award winning drummer Rob Martin. Robbing also has the heavy imprint of multi-instrumentalist David “Immy” Immerglück of alternative rock greats Counting Crows, Camper Van Beethoven, and the Monks of Doom.
Through the years, Meade has toured with Iggy Pop, Smashing Pumpkins, Jane’s Addiction, the Meat Puppets, and many others. Butch Vig and John Agnello have produced his albums, and Spike Jonze, George Salisbury, and Phil Harder have directed his videos.
