This week on the Talkhouse Weekend Playlist, singer LP (who has written songs for Rihanna, Christina Aguilera and more) trolls through Spotify and comes up with some instant vibes and uniquely androgynous French accents. Some of these tracks are so good, you’ll almost want to relive high school (JK). Check out LP’s latest EP, Death Valley, via Vagrant Records, and have a great weekend!
Izzamuzzic — “Adventure”
I just heard this recently on Spotify and it was just an instant vibe. Just wanted to sit and think to it. Exciting stuff I know but sometimes that’s enough.
Christine and the Queens — “Tilted”
I love this artist. So cool and so uniquely androgynous in her own special way. Dances like a mufucka too.
Lauren Ruth Ward — “Burden”
This track is written and sung by my baby and it rules. She is amazing and not just because I love her. The woman can sing.
Father John Misty — “Nothing Good Ever Happens at the Goddamn Thirsty Crow”
Father John Misty always makes me wanna write better and more and drink and fuck and take drugs not necessarily in that order.
Marty Robbins — “El Paso”
This guy is the inspiration for me wanting to play a Martin size 5 custom guitar in Nashville tuning. I love the tone of his voice. There’s a beautiful combination of joy and heartache in it … his voice that is.
Leon Bridges — “Coming Home”
I’m new to this guy and love what he’s doing. This song just feels good to sit and play guitar to on a beautiful California Sunday.
Shakey Graves — “Dearly Departed”
Gotta love this guy. Very pure sound and Esmé Patterson sounds great with him on this. Makes me feel like drinking a beer. So I just got me one.
Tame Impala — “The Less I know the Better”
I keep going back to this. So inspiring. That baseline is ingrained in my heart and mind forever. And the video makes you wanna relive high school again! 😀 Uh no not really.
Christine and the Queens — “iT”
Another song I love of hers. Her little French accent makes it even more fun to say the line “I’m a man now.” Yasss Christine and the Queens.
The Zombies — “Time of the Season”
This is a sexy little song for sure. Transports you instantly to a time capsule of kaleidoscope psychedelic awesomeness when weed was for hippies.
