Talkhouse Playlist: Japanese Breakfast Reflects on Water

Sea, sex & sun in the Pacific Northwest.

Earlier this year, Michelle Zauner (a.k.a. Japanese Breakfast) put out a moving album, equal parts catchy and heartbreaking, called Psychopomp. If you haven't heard it yet, give it a listen via Yellow K Records. We asked Michelle for a playlist, which she put together while on tour in the Northwest with Porches. Enjoy!
–Dave Lucas, Talkhouse Marketing Manager

I’m putting this together on a rainy drive through the Pacific Northwest. We played Seattle last night at the Crocodile with Rivergazer and Porches. Now we are staring down the barrel of a nine-hour drive to Twin Falls, Idaho. It’s beautiful and green and grey and feels like home. We’ve been on the road for almost three weeks. Maybe it’s this dewy landscape that made me want to curate a playlist of songs about water.

I was happy to include my favorite Porches song and an old Little Big League track (my band before Japanese Breakfast) I wrote about four years ago called “Brackish Water.”
