Celebrating Andy Rourke

Caleb Nichols (he/they) is a writer, musician, and librarian from California, occupying Tilhini, the Place of the Full Moon, the unceded territory of the yak titʸu titʸu yak tiłhini tribe. His poetry has been featured in Hoax, Redivider, 14 Poems, and DEAR Poetry Journal, among other publications and his chapbook “Teems///\Recedes&#8221; which Chen Chen called “a gorgeous abundance” is out from Kelp Books. Caleb’s debut solo album Ramon, a queer rock opera based on the Beatles song “Mean Mr. Mustard,” is out on Kill Rock Stars, and he is a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at Bangor University in Wales. Caleb also owns and operates the SLO Book Bike, a queer-owned, bike-powered, pop-up bookshop in San Luis Obispo, and works as a librarian at Cal Poly State University.

One of the most revered bass players in alternative music, Andy Rourke helped craft the iconic sound of the &#8217;80s with seminal band, the Smiths. Rourke went on to play and record with many talented artists in the years to follow, including Morrissey, Sinead O’Connor, the Pretenders, Badly Drawn Boy and Aziz Ibrahim. He formed Moondog One with Oasis’ former guitarist Bonehead, Mike Joyce and Craig Gannon, and he created the unique bass super-group Freebass in 2005, bringing in Peter Hook, formerly of New Order and Joy Division, and Gary Mounfield “Mani” of the Stone Roses and Primal Scream. He released an album through Kobalt last year with the project Daddy, which is with the multi-talented actor James Franco and Tim O’Keefe, and also his band <a href="http://www.darkofficial.com/" target="_blank">D.A.R.K.</a>, with Dolores O’Riordan (the Cranberries) and Olé Koretsky.
Peter Hook is an English singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He is best known as the bassist and co-founder of English rock bands Joy Division and New Order. He is currently the lead singer and bassist for Peter Hook and the Light.

Dave Hill&nbsp;is a comedian, writer, musician, and highly boneable public figure. He is the author of the book&nbsp;Tasteful Nudes&nbsp;(St. Martin&#8217;s Press, 2012), host of&nbsp;The Goddamn Dave Hill Show&nbsp;on New Jersey&#8217;s WFMU-91.1, frequent contributor to&nbsp;This American Life&nbsp;and singer-guitar player for the power-pop band Valley Lodge. His new comedy album Let Me Turn You On&nbsp;is <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/let-me-turn-you-on/id992705195" target="_blank">available now</a>, as is his second collection of essays, Dave Hill Doesn&#8217;t Live Here Anymore (Penguin/Blue Rider Press).&nbsp;Dave also smells incredible and can play sweet guitar solos without even really trying.
