The Furniture is Disturbed: The (Re)Formation of Disturbed Furniture

Tony Price is a New York based producer, musician, and songwriter. Born in Greektown, Toronto, Price has lent his expertise to a wide range of critically acclaimed records on labels like 4AD, Slumberland, DFA, Slumberland, and Burger Records amongst many others. In 2017 he founded his label and creative services unit Maximum Exposure, which quickly became an in-demand entity, providing production and design expertise to the likes of Capitol Records, Pat McGrath Labs, Vogue, SSENSE, 4AD, and Night School Recordings amongst others.

Young Guv Talks Making a Rock & Roll Album in 2019

It was 2006, and Kings of Spade moved from Honolulu to Los Angeles to chase their dreams. But the jungle, as we’ve learned, isn’t always so welcoming. Singer KC and drummer Matt Kato were barely scraping by. A majority of the feisty anthems on the group’s new full-length, Kings of Spade (on Soundly Music), comes from simply not letting tough times kick them down. Produced by Grammy-winner Dave Cobb (Judah and the Lion, Chris Stapleton), their output (guitarist Jesse Savio and bassist Tim Corker rounds out the band) is at turns soulful and rollicking—never complacent, never dull, always sincere. They recorded Kings of Spade over two weeks in Nashville with Cobb.

Tales From a Rock & Roll Queer

Chris Forsyth is a lauded guitarist, composer and bandleader whose work assimilates art-rock textures and vernacular American influences. Long active in underground circles, he’s recently released a string of acclaimed records of widescreen guitar rock, and in 2013, he assembled the Solar Motel Band.
<div class="c-message__content c-message__content--feature_sonic_inputs" data-qa="message_content">His most recent release is the 2019 double album All Time Present (No Quarter). Raves have been universal with four stars from Mojo Magazine and five stars from The Guardian. Pitchfork said he “seeks the third path between classic-rock peaks and floating experimentalism&#8230; [and] achieves a scope only hinted at on [his] previous full-lengths.” NPR Music previously named Forsyth “one of rock’s most lyrical guitar improvisors,” and the New York Times called him “a scrappy and mystical historian… His music humanizes the element of control in rock classicism (and) turns it into a woolly but disciplined ritual.”</div>

Emily Nokes is a musician, writer, graphic designer, illustrator, Libra, candy enthusiast and the singer/tambourinist in glittery feminist punk-pop band Tacocat. Her hobbies include giving pretty good home bang trims, puffy painting, stoned shopping and taking photos of her luxuriously large grey cat, Doctor O. As a writer and illustrator, her work has appeared in Seattle alternative weekly The Stranger, where she previously worked as music editor before deciding to tour basically all the time.

Talkhouse Music editor-in-chief Brenna Ehrlich (until March 17, 2017) is the founder of the small press/label for weird teens, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/allagespress" target="_blank">All Ages Press</a>. She previously served as senior pop editor for MTV News, editor for MTV Hive, associate editor of media and entertainment at Mashable and columnist for CNN. Her first book was Stuff Hipsters Hate: A Field Guide to the Passionate Opinions of the Indifferent, so it makes sense that she lives in Brooklyn with three cats and spends her weekends trying not to die in moshpits. Brenna also plays drums and sings in the band <a href="https://mediummystic.bandcamp.com/releases" target="_blank">Medium Mystic</a>.

How Being the Editor-in-Chief of Talkhouse Music Finally Made Me Start a Band

One of the most revered bass players in alternative music, Andy Rourke helped craft the iconic sound of the &#8217;80s with seminal band, the Smiths. Rourke went on to play and record with many talented artists in the years to follow, including Morrissey, Sinead O’Connor, the Pretenders, Badly Drawn Boy and Aziz Ibrahim. He formed Moondog One with Oasis’ former guitarist Bonehead, Mike Joyce and Craig Gannon, and he created the unique bass super-group Freebass in 2005, bringing in Peter Hook, formerly of New Order and Joy Division, and Gary Mounfield “Mani” of the Stone Roses and Primal Scream. He released an album through Kobalt last year with the project Daddy, which is with the multi-talented actor James Franco and Tim O’Keefe, and also his band <a href="http://www.darkofficial.com/" target="_blank">D.A.R.K.</a>, with Dolores O’Riordan (the Cranberries) and Olé Koretsky.
Peter Hook is an English singer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer. He is best known as the bassist and co-founder of English rock bands Joy Division and New Order. He is currently the lead singer and bassist for Peter Hook and the Light.

Penn Badgley is an actor and musician. He currently fronts the band Mothxr, and, in the past, starred in the show Gossip Girl.
Kendra Foster has written for the likes of Mark Ronson, Sunshine Anderson &amp;, PFunk Allstars, but it was her contributions to D’Angelo’s highly anticipated Black Messiah album that had heads turning, not only for her illustrious singing on the record as part of The Vanguard but for her brilliant co-writing on eight of the album’s tracks. Her work with D’Angelo won her two Grammys for Best R&amp;B Album and Best R&amp;B Song (“Really Love”).
