Jeanie Finlay is a British artist and filmmaker who creates intimate, funny and personal documentary films and artworks. Her focus is on creating compelling portraits and is obsessed with telling other people’s stories. Her work is known for its innovative approach to engaging with audiences in meaningful ways. Her documentaries includes Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, Seahorse, Orion: The Man Who Would Be King, The Great Hip Hop Hoax, Sound It Out, Goth Cruise and Teenland. Carrie Brownstein writes and stars in the Emmy-nominated, Peabody- and WGA Award-winning television show Portlandia. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, Slate, the Believer, Vanity Fair and numerous book anthologies on music and culture. Brownstein was also a member of the band Sleater-Kinney. Documentary filmmaker Michael Kirk has produced more than 200 national television programs. Kirk was the senior producer of Frontline from the series’ inception in 1983 until the fall of 1987, when he created his own production company, the Kirk Documentary Group. Kirk is the winner of every major award in journalism, including four Peabody Awards, three duPont-Columbia Awards, two George Polk Awards, 15 Emmy Awards, and 11 Writers Guild of America Awards. Three-time Emmy nominated writer, director, producer, and standup comedian Neal Brennan’s new hour special, 3 Mics, is now on Netflix, having previously enjoyed a successful off-Broadway run in NYC with superstar musician John Legend serving as producer. Brennan is also currently a writer and Creative Consultant on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Brennan co-created Comedy Central’s legendary Chappelle’s Show, for which he received three Emmy nominations; one for directing, one for writing, and one for producing. Together, Brennan and Dave Chappelle wrote and produced virtually every sketch on the show themselves, and also together also co-wrote the movie Half-Baked. Brennan directed the 2009 comedy The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, as well as episodes of such TV shows as New Girl, Inside Amy Schumer and The Mindy Project. (Picture by Tyler Ross.)

His first film, the multi-award-winning Super Size Me, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004 garnered a Academy Award nomination for Best Feature Documentary. Since then he has directed, produced and distributed numerous film, television and digital projects, including the critically acclaimed CNN television series Morgan Spurlock Inside Man, Showtime’s 7 Deadly Sins, the FX series 30 Days and the films Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?, the Emmy- and WGA-nominated The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: In 3-D! Kirsten Johnson is a cinematographer and director. Her directorial feature debut, Cameraperson, premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, won numerous awards and was released theatrically by Janus Films to great acclaim. Her short film The Above premiered at 2015 New York Film Festival in the The Intercept’s Field of Vision launch. Her most recent camerawork appears in Oscar-winning Citizenfour and Very Semi-Serious. James Marsh is an English director best known for his 2008 film, Man on Wire, which won many awards including the Oscar for Best Documentary. His other notable non-fiction credits include Wisconsin Death Trip (1999) and Project Nim (2011). Marsh also directs fiction films, including The King (2005), starring Gael Garcia Bernal; Red Riding: 1980 (2009), the second part of the Red Riding trilogy; and Shadow Dancer (2012), with Clive Owen and Gillian Anderson.

Victoria Negri is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and actor. Her directorial debut, <a href="http://goldstar-film.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gold Star</a>, which she also wrote and stars in, world premiered at the Buffalo International Film Festival in October 2016, where it won the Audience Award, was released theatrically in fall 2017, and is currently available through Amazon Prime. Negri is currently in development on her second feature as writer-director, Ultra.

Joe Dante is a lifelong film buff who turned his obsession into a career. He got his start cutting trailers for Roger Corman and later directed the hit movie Gremlins, as well as Gremlins 2: The New Batch, for producer Steven Spielberg. His feature films include The Howling, Innerspace, Matinee, Small Soldiers, The ‘burbs, The Hole and the zom-com Burying the Ex. His TV directing work includes the HBO film The Second Civil War, the Masters of Horrors titles, episodes of Eerie, Indiana (which he helped create), CSI: NY, Hawaii 5-0 and Salem.

Writer-director Nicholas McCarthy made his feature debut in 2012 with The Pact, adapted from his short film of the same name. The horror film, which premiered at Sundance, was released by IFC Midnight in the U.S. and spawned a sequel. In the wake of the success of The Pact, McCarthy wrote and directed the At the Devil’s Door, starring Naya Rivera and Catalina Sandino Moreno, which was released in 2014, also by IFC Midnight. In 2016, McCarthy wrote and directed the “Easter” segment of the anthology horror film Holidays. He lives in Los Angeles.

A former child actor on Broadway, he found fame playing Bill S. Preston, Esquire in Bill &amp; Ted&#8217;s Excellent Adventure, Bill &amp; Ted&#8217;s Bogus Journey and Bill &amp; Ted Face the Music. The co-creator of the MTV show The Idiot Box, he made his directorial debut in 1993 with Freaked. Kim Longinotto is a British documentary filmmaker, well known for making films about extraordinary women and also the plight of female victims of oppression or discrimination. While studying at the National Film and Television School, she made a documentary about her boarding school that was shown at the London Film Festival. She has continued to be a prolific observational documentary filmmaker ever since, receiving a number of awards for her films over the years, including a BAFTA for Divorce Iranian Style.
