Through its rigorous quality standards, it has contributed to the creation of a diverse repertoire that defies trends and fashions. Over the years, it has commissioned numerous works and premiered nearly 500. Its open, collaborative, and artist-led approach has resulted in numerous innovative and highly acclaimed productions, including interdisciplinary projects involving video, theater, and dance.

Jacob Michael and Jesse Clasen had been grinding it out on the road for a decade when their respective bands came to an end. At the time, joining forces wasn’t a particularly convenient thing to do — both had day jobs and lived hundreds of miles away from each other — but something told the pair it was worth the extra effort. While much has changed for the band since those early days — they’ve got a name now, Foreign Air, and more than 100 million streams under their belt — that childlike sense of joy and wonder never left. In fact, as the duo’s full-length debut, Good Morning Stranger, demonstrates, it’s only grown stronger with time.

Even if you’ve never heard the name Hugh Marsh you almost certainly have heard the sound of his violin. He is a featured player on major soundtracks by Hans Zimmer and Harry Gregson-Williams, was nominated for a Juno award in 2007, recorded with Iggy Pop and The Stooges, was in the backing band for the solo project of Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy, yet all of this amounts to a tiny fraction of his decades-long list of credits. 
The latest addition to that list is Marsh’s own Violinvocations, an LP of eight brooding, exploratory tracks culled from daily recording sessions that spanned the six months he spent living in Los Angeles with friend, mentor, and fellow soundbender Jon Hassell.

David Garland Talks Deradoorian’s The Expanding Flower Planet

Geoff Barrow, an English producer/composer, is the founding member of the band Portishead and a member of the experimental trio BEAK&gt;. He launched the independent label Invada Records in 2001, and as a producer has worked with bands as diverse as The Horrors, Quakers and Anika. Barrow was the music supervisor for Banksy&#8217;s film Exit Through the Gift Shop, and most recently created the score for Alex Garland&#8217;s Ex Machina, along with Ben Salisbury. The pair also released Drokk: Music inspired by Mega-City One, an album of music composed for the film Dredd.

The former frontman of Pop Will Eat Itself, Clint Mansell is an Grammy- and Golden Globe-nominated film composer. He is a longtime collaborator of groundbreaking director Darren Aronofsky, for whom Mansell has scored each of his major films, including Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream, Noah, The Fountain, The Wrestler, and Pi. In addition, Mansell has scored Duncan Jones’ directorial debut Moon, Park Chan-wook&#8217;s 2013 thriller Stoker, Dito Montiel&#8217;s Man Down (out fall 2015) and Ben Wheatley&#8217;s upcoming High-Rise.

Daniel Hart is a film composer and musician from Dallas, Texas. Kevin Devine is an independent singer-songwriter from Brooklyn, New York. He plays alone, with his Goddamn Band, and as a member of Bad Books. The first run of his Devinyl Splits, released between February 2015 and March 2016, consisted of six split 7” singles, each featuring Devine and a different partner.  The series, released by Bad Timing Records and Devinyl Records, returns in 2018 for another run.
