Nelson George

Nelson George is an author, filmmaker, TV producer and critic with a long career in analyzing and presenting the diverse elements of African-American culture. He made his directorial debut with the HBO movie Life Support, for which Queen Latifah won a Golden Globe. His many recent documentary projects include VH1’s Finding The Funk, Showtime’s Brooklyn Boheme, ESPN’s The Announcement and his new film, A Ballerina’s Tale. In 2008, he co-edited, with Alan Leeds, The James Brown Reader: 50 Years of Writing about the Godfather of Soul.
